Rivers and Spires Festival announces New Event

Clarksville, TN – Rivers and Spires Festival organizers announced today the addition of a new event for 2012. In recognition of the Festival’s 10th anniversary, Brewfest, an event where attendees can sample a variety of craft beers, has been added to the spring Festival’s celebrations.
According to Rivers & Spires Festival manager Doug Barber, it was Jeff Turner of Ajax Distributing Company who encouraged the city to add the new event.
Brewfest is the newest event added to the Rivers and Spires Festival.

The Chamber’s Business After Hours will be held on Thursday, March 15th from 5:00pm-7:00pm. Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s Hershey Track and Field program to begin March 22nd, competition to be held May 12th

Clarksville, TN – Young athletes can showcase their skills in track, long jump and softball throw in the 2012 Hershey Track and Field competition. This program is open to boys and girls ages 9 to 14 in the Clarksville-Montgomery County area.
Hershey Track and Field practices begin March 22nd and will meet every Thursday from 4:30pm to 5:30pm at the Burt-Cobb Community Center, located at 1101 Franklin Street.

LEAP Organization awards Single Parent Transitional Housing

Clarksville TN – March 1st, 2012 marked another opportunity for a single parent to have a second chance. Through a collaborative partnership with the LEAP Organization and Millan Enterprises, the parent was awarded an apartment unit and is eligible to receive two vouchers making her rent free for the first two months. After which, based on compliance with the program can receive an additional 2 vouchers that will make her rent half off the market value.
As needed she may even receive additional vouchers of up to $100.00 off the rent.
LEAP has launched an online campaign requesting members of the community to commit to donating at least $5.00 month to help purchase additional apartment units for the LEAP Transitional Housing Program.
Clarksville Police Department has Seven New Officers take Oath of Office

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Police Department welcomed seven new officers to its ranks on March 1st, 2012. Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan administered the Oath of Office to the new officers in a ceremony at City Hall.
The newly hired officers will attend the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy, March 18th-May 25th, 2012.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation announces Finalists for the second-annual Legends Award

Clarksville, TN – The nominations are in for the second Clarksville Sports Festival Legends Awards. The City of Clarksville Parks & Recreation Department along with Legends Bank have partnered in an effort to honor both current and past coaches who are or have made a unique difference and solid contribution to sports and athletics in the Clarksville-Montgomery County area.

In this tale edited by Brandon Meeks, the jealous King Leontes of Sicilia nearly topples his own kingdom when he falsely accuses his queen of adultery with his childhood friend, King Polixenes of Bohemia.
