Clarksville, TN – A map of the United States hangs in an upstairs hallway of Austin Peay State University’s Hemlock Semiconductor Building (HSC) with a sign above it that reads, “Where are they now?” The map is covered with arrows pointing to the companies nationwide where graduates of the University’s four-year-old Chemical Engineering Technology Program (ChET) now work.
“As you can see, it is concentrated around middle Tennessee and southern Kentucky,” Dr. Chester Little, director of the APSU ChET program, said. “I have one there in Topeka, KS, and one in Los Angeles. One in Ohio.”

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Roller Derby’s Red River Sirens present “Riot of the Ranks”- Betty Bombers vs. Suzy Sailors.
The Red River Sirens have divided their team a second time this season to form the Betty Bombers and the Suzy Sailors in an intra-league bout on Saturday, November 10th at Magic Wheels, 1671 Fort Campbell Boulevard. This is the end of our 2012 season and we wanted to go out with a bang!

APSU Physics Students send high altitude balloon into stratosphere

Clarksville, TN – On a recent Tuesday afternoon, a farmer in rural Scottsville, KY, spotted a strange, shimmering object in one of his fields. He wasn’t quite sure what to make of it. It appeared to be nothing more than a Styrofoam beer cooler, wrapped in aluminum foil, with a parachute attached to it.
“What in the world is this?” he reportedly said. Another man with him said it looked like a weather balloon, so the farmer picked up the unusual box and took it back to his garage. The next morning, as he drove down a nearby highway, he happened upon a group of Austin Peay State University students wading through the weeds and tall grass along the side of the road.

Cumberland Winds Concert Band to perform at Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library Saturday

Clarksville, TN – The Cumberland Winds Concert Band will entertain with a variety of traditional and popular musical styles, including show tunes and music from movie scores, at 2:00pm on Saturday October 27th at the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library.
This is the second of three performances by several versions of the Cumberland Winds at the library, and will comprise the largest number of performers.

APSU College of Business to showcase Master of Science in Management Degree Program at Fall Open House November 15th

Clarksville, TN – Prospective students interested in learning more about the Master of Science in management degree program at Austin Peay State University are invited to an open house next month.
The College of Business will hold a fall open house from 5:30pm-7:00pm, Thursday, November 15th in the lobby of the Kimbrough Building. All current undergraduate and prospective graduate students who received their bachelor’s degree from APSU or another college or university are welcome to attend. [Read more]
Lydia Walker to sing at Freedom Deli

Clarksville, TN – Popular local singer/musician Lydia Walker will play Freedom Deli tonight from 7:00pm-9:00pm. Walker’s playlist of contemporary folk music includes “Shades of Gray” and “When I Dance.”
Walker hails from Cunningham, TN, and has been writing and performing her own songs, accompanied by her acoustic guitar, since the age of 12. She has performed at coffee shops, colleges, churches, and festivals and has just released her 7th independent album, “Beloved”, co-written and produced with Nashville hit songwriter Curt Ryle. Her goal is to inspire people with a message of hope.

Clarksville City Department Chili Cook-Off starts today at 11:00am

Clarksville, TN – On Friday October 26th, 2012, a Department-wide Chili Cook-off will be hosted by the City of Clarksville. The event will benefit the United Way.
City of Clarksville Departments will compete for “Best Chili,” “Best Side,” Best Dessert,” and “Best Showmanship” trophies. The event will be held from 11:00am to 1:00pm in the lower parking lot of City Hall. [Read more]
