APSU’s Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority to hold Dodgeball Tournament April 6th

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – For the third consecutive year, the Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority at Austin Peay State University will hold the popular Ball to the Walls Dodgeball Tournament.

The event, open to the public, will take place from 10:00am-12:30pm, Saturday, April 6th at the Memorial Health Building (“Red Barn”) at the APSU main campus.

All donations will go to The Special Olympics. There will be three divisions: men, women and co-ed. [Read more]

Movies in the Park to kick off 2013 season May 4th

Movies in the ParkClarksville, TN – Movies in the Park, the free outdoor movie series, will kick off its eighth season, Saturday, May 4th at the Heritage Park Soccer fields with the popular animated film, “Brave” – which is rated PG.

New this year to Movies in the Park- an added venue! The first half of the movie showings will take place at the Heritage Park Soccer fields with the second half taking place at the new outdoor amphitheater at Liberty Park.

APSU Spring Salon Series to explore music, art and language with Malcolm Glass April 2nd

APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative ArtsClarksville, TN – Malcolm Glass, the local award-winning poet and Austin Peay State University emeritus professor of English, can’t seem to keep his creative side in check. A few years ago, he took up photography and created dazzling images that were displayed around town and in Nashville.

Then, in the spring of 2011, he decided to give drawing a go. That’s when he enrolled in APSU art professor Billy Renkl’s Drawing IV class at the University.

Rivers and Spires Brewfest Tickets are now on Sale

Rivers and Spires FestivalClarksville, TN – The 2nd Annual Rivers and Spires Brewfest will feature more than 80 beers for you to sample on Saturday, April 20th from 3:00pm to 7:00pm.

Back again after a very successful first year, the event will have craft beers, food and entertainment. Activities for the afternoon include interactive cooking shows, sponsored by Legends Bank and Publix, complete with samples for the audience to enjoy.

APSU’s Jim Vandergriff recipient of MAA’s Distinguished Service Award

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Dr. Jim Vandergriff, Austin Peay State University professor of computer science and information technology, was recently named the recipient of the 2013 Mathematical Association of America (MAA) Southeastern Section’s Distinguished Service Award.

The honor was presented to Vandergriff last Thursday evening at the 92nd Annual MAA Southeastern Section meeting at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC. [Read more]

Austin Peay State University receives National Student Veterans Award

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – On Monday, March 18th, Austin Peay State University received a national award from the Student Veterans of America in honor of the commitments APSU has made in the last few years to help active duty military, reservists, national guardsmen and veteran students earn their college degrees.

“The award honors APSU for its superior work helping veterans and their families,” SVO President Michael Cleveland said.

Dr. Kristofer Ray, associate professor of history, will present at 3:00pm, Thursday, March 21st in the Morgan University Center, Room 303. All sessions of the Provost Lecture Series are free and open to the public.

The title of his presentation is “Cherokees and Franco-British Confrontation in the Tennessee Corridor, 1748-1758.” [Read more]
