Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department reports Art on the Park winners finalize paintings

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department’s bi-annual Art on the Park sponsored by PPG Paints will come to a close this Saturday, October 17th at Heritage Park Skate Park. The contest winners will finalize their artwork that they began painting October 3rd. The painted murals are left for the skating community and general public to enjoy until the next contest.
The contest was open to ages 12 and up and six winners were selected amongst three different age groups. Each winner received a framed copy of their artwork and a $25.00 gift card in addition to painting their artwork on the skate park walls.
Planters Bank Kicking Off Season of Giving with $60,000 Donation

Clarksville, TN – Planters Bank announces today the kickoff of its annual Season of Giving. 12 area organizations throughout Western Kentucky and Tennessee will be supported through the giving campaign, kicking off with $60,000 in initial donations.
Entering its seventh year, the Planters Bank Season of Giving is a bank tradition that has a goal of bringing awareness to non-profit organizations’ missions at the same time as fundraising for the organizations.
APSU waives ACT, SAT, GRE tests for 2021 Summer, Fall Admission

Austin Peay State University statistics instructor builds real-world models to help students grasp math concepts

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University statistics instructor Sam Ligo for years has used his woodworking skills and engineering know-how to build mathematical models – real-world 3D representations of the math – to help his students learn.
And over the summer, he built his latest learning tool – a Galton Board.

2020 Clarksville-Montgomery County Veterans Day Parade set for November 7th

Montgomery County, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Veterans Day Parade will take place on Saturday, November 7th, with pre-parade ceremonies set for 9:00am in front of the historic courthouse (south side) on Third Street in Downtown Clarksville.
The keynote speaker is US Army retired Major General Walt Lord, who now serves as Vice President, Government Division, at FileBank Inc.

APSU School of Nursing forms partnership with Fisk University

Clarksville, TN – Last year, when Fisk University decided to provide a nursing pathway for its students, the Nashville-based school reached out to one of the top programs in the region – the Austin Peay State University (APSU) School of Nursing. Officials at Fisk liked that APSU’s program consistently had a near 100% passing rate for the national licensure test, and Austin Peay State University officials were eager to take advantage of the diversity that Fisk – a historically Black university – offered.
