Austin Peay State University Percussion Ensemble holds 30th Annual Halloween Concert

Clarksville, TN – On Friday evening Austin peace State University played host to the 30th Annual Percussion Ensemble Halloween Concert. The sell out performances featured Music department students and faculty dressed in costumes while performing on a ghoulishly decorated stage.
This year’s program featured “This is Halloween,” from the film “The Nightmare Before Christmas;” “Once Upon a Dream,” from the recent “Maleficent” movie; Franz Schubert’s “Erlkönig,“ about magical beings attacking a young boy; and a Halloween rap arranged by Steinquest.

Clarksville, TN – As expected, the Federal Open Market Committee brought the large-scale asset purchase program (QE3) to an end and repeated that it expects conditions to warrant exceptionally low levels of the federal funds rate “for a considerable time.”
The policy statement was viewed as more hawkish (or less dovish) than anticipated. The FOMC noted that the slack in the job market is “diminishing gradually” (in the previous statement, slack was described as “significant”). The Fed added that the initial increase in short-term interest rates likely would come sooner if the economy is stronger than anticipated or later if the economy disappoints.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s Community Meeting for Future of Burchwood Park Rescheduled

Clarksville TN – The City of Clarksville’s Parks and Recreation Department will conduct a community meeting to discuss the future development of Burchwood Park that includes plans for a new playground and parking lot.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation says deadline to register for the Kleeman Center’s Fitness Training Class is approaching

Clarksville, TN – You can beat those holiday calories this year, but you’d better hurry! The Kleeman Community Center, located at 166 Cunningham Lane, is offering a second session of its Fun Interval Training (F.I.T.) program that will kick off on November 3rd and continue through January 15th.
Classes will meet daily, Monday through Thursday from 6:00pm-7:00pm. Exercises will focus on a different muscle group depending on the day. The class will take a break from December 22nd through January 2nd for the holidays.
Clarksville’s 2nd Annual Pit Bull Awareness Day set for Sunday, November 2nd

Clarksville, TN – On Sunday, November 2nd, the 2nd Annual Pit Bull Awareness Day will take place at the Rural King parking lot between 1:00pm and 5:00pm.
This event tries to bring awareness about the misconception of Bully Breeds, raise funds specifically ear-marked to provide free or greatly reduced cost spay/neuter surgeries for owners and to reduce euthanasia and increase adoptions of Pit Bulls in the Clarksville-Montgomery County area.

Clarksville’s Dunbar Cave State Park Programs for November 2nd through November 5th, 2014

Clarksville, TN – Dunbar Cave State Natural Area has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.
Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs this summer. There are programs for children and adults.
