APSU’s Watauga Arts Academy looking for high school students interested in the arts

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – The Watauga Arts Academy, hosted by Austin Peay State University, is a summer program offering high school students the opportunity to participate in a collaborative and creative “think tank” for visual arts, music, dance and theatre.

Watauga is a two-week residential arts camp for students in grades 9-12, with this year’s camp taking place June 14th-27th.

Clarksville’s Dunbar Cave State Park Programs for April 15th through April 19th, 2015

Dunbar Cave State Park - Clarksville TNClarksville, TNDunbar Cave State Natural Area has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.

Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs during the year. There are programs for children and adults.

Some of the upcoming events include: Nature Walk at Port Royal, Woods Walk, Night Hike, Bird Hike, and Trail of Tears at Port Royal.

APSU Department of Art - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University student Lauren McKinney will exhibit her tintype portraits and prints in the show, “Sui Generis” from April 13th-16th, 2015, between 8:00am-5:00pm. The opening reception is free to the public and takes place on Monday, April 13th from 5:00pm-8:00pm.

McKinney’s portraits celebrate the unique characteristics of both the individual and the tintype by highlighting the inherent qualities of each individual photographed. [Read more]
