Clarksville, TN – The Liberty Live summer concert series returns for the final concert of the series at Liberty Park on Friday, August 7th! The last concert in the series will feature the alternative rock group, Darling Parade.
Admission is free but concessions will be available for purchase. The show is set to begin at 6:30pm at Liberty Park.

Watercolorist Patsy Sharpe to Show Work at Planters Bank in August

Clarksville, TN – The Planters Bank-Hilldale Gallery will feature an exhibit titled “The Still Life” by Clarksville Artist Patsy Sharpe from Thursday, August 6th – Wednesday, September 30th.
Sharpe is an established painter, a Signature Tennessee Watercolor Society member, and member of many art organizations such as The Miniature Art Society of Florida, the Southern Watercolor Society, the Chestnut Group and the 2RiversPainters. She currently teaches art at Centerstone, as well as the occasional workshop, and heads the Region II Tennessee Watercolor Society’s Annual Exhibition in Clarksville.

APSU to break ground on new fine arts building September 1st

Clarksville, TN – When Barry Jones was a student at Austin Peay State University in the early 1990s, he heard rumors about a new fine arts building going up on campus.
Ten years later, Jones returned to his alma mater as an assistant professor, and he was reassured that the growing art department would soon move out of the cramped Trahern Building.

Jazz on the Lawn hosts Toast to Youth Development benefit for LEAP

Clarksville, TN – On Sunday, August 16th Beachaven Winery concert series ‘Jazz on the Lawn’ will feature music by the Back Road Brigade sponsored by the Joe Padula Show on 1400 WJZM. The music starts at 1:00pm and goes until 4:00pm.
The theme for this event is Toasting to Youth Development with 10% of proceeds from wine sells being donated to the LEAP Organization.
LEAP is a 501c3 nonprofit youth development organization that instills positive moral growth and sustainable life skills in youth.
Clarksville’s Dunbar Cave State Park Programs for August 6th through August 9th, 2015

Clarksville, TN – Dunbar Cave State Natural Area has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.
Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs during the year. There are programs for children and adults.
Some of the upcoming events include: Port Royal Trail of Tears, Wildflower Walk, Cave Hike, Evening Hike and Herpetological Morning Hike.

Clarksville’s Customs House Museum Offers Opportunity to Artists

Clarksville, TN – The Customs House Museum is offering artists in Tennessee and Kentucky an opportunity to exhibit in the Planters Bank Peg Harvill Gallery. The open call will give ten regional artists a one month show in 2016.
The call is open to both 2D and 3D works. Prospectuses are available on the museum website as well as in the museum lobby.

Clarksville, TN – The week began with an 8.5% drop in the Shanghai Composite Index, which sent markets down worldwide (but the Chinese market appeared to stabilize later). The Fed made only slight alterations to the wording of the monetary policy statement, and did not provide a strong signal that a September move is coming.
Real GDP rose at a 2.3% annual rate in the advance estimate for 2Q15, a bit shy of expectations, but the first quarter was revised to +0.6% (from -0.2%). Annual benchmark revisions showed a somewhat slower rate of growth in the past few years (mostly in 2013), which implies that the output gap (the difference between GDP and potential GDP) is higher than it was thought to be earlier (an important consideration for the Fed).
