APSU Department of Music now offering bachelor, master of music degrees

Clarksville, TN – To better prepare students for rewarding careers in both performance and music education, the Austin Peay State University Department of Music now offers bachelor of music degrees in both music education and performance.
In addition, APSU now offers a restructured Master of Music in Music Education, along with online course offerings for working professionals.

The Small Business Connect Seminar is a no-cost, no-obligation event hosted by Altra Federal Credit Union. The event is open to small business owners and Altra membership is not required.

Dunbar Cave State Park Programs for January 7th – 14th, 2016

Clarksville, TN – Dunbar Cave State Natural Area has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.
Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs during the year. There are programs for children and adults.
Some of the upcoming events include: Port Royal History Walk, Dunbar’s History, Woodland Wildlife, Evening to Night Hike and the Mysterious Underground World.
Acuff Circle of Excellence Ovation Awards nominations now being excepted

Clarksville, TN – The coveted Acuff Circle of Excellence Ovation Awards in the arts will be presented March 6th, 2016, but nominations already are being sought.
The Circle, a non-profit organization affiliated with the Austin Peay State University Foundation, is a patron society of the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts. The awards have been presented since 1996.

Clarksville Academy students help bring Bicycle Share Program to Clarksville

Clarksville, TN – Thanks to a group of Clarksville Academy students, a grant from the Clarksville-Montgomery County Community Health Foundation and a partnership with the city of Clarksville, a bicycle share program will soon come to Liberty park and McGregor park.
The group, comprised of about eight Clarksville students each year, researched and wrote a grant proposal as part of Clarksville Academy’s Challenge Based Learning (CBL).

Bicycle Share Program “B-Cycle” will be available soon at Clarksville’s Liberty park and McGregor Park.
Clarksville’s Downtown Artist Co-op Gallery to feature Janet Felts in January

Clarksville, TN – Native Clarksvillian Janet Jones Felts will exhibit her artworks throughout the month of January at the Downtown Artist Co-op Gallery. Her show, “Freedom to Explore”, represents her diversity acquired from years of study as an art educator in Tennessee and Georgia.
Her works include creations in acrylics, watercolors, pen and ink, charcoal and oil. Janet’s style is realistic and her favorite subject matter revolves around trees and nature. She works in her studio and also outdoors in plein air.
Customs House Museum to hold 7th Annual Champagne and Chocolate Fundraiser January 28th

Cumberland Arts Centre to hold Auditions for “Allocating Annie” January 4th and 5th

Clarksville, TN – The Cumberland Arts Centre, in Downtown Clarksville, will hold open auditions for the upcoming production of “Allocating Annie” on Monday and Tuesday nights, January 4th and 5th at 7:00pm.
“Allocating Annie” is a romantic comedy of misunderstandings. It calls for 3 males, (ages 20 – 50) and 4 females, (ages 20 – 60).
