Austin Peay State University professor Scott Raymond brings a dinosaur to life for Nickelodeon’s Kids Choice Awards

Assistant professor of animation Scott Raymond recently came to APSU following a successful career in computer animation, working for DreamWorks Animation on recent films, including “Kung Fu Panda 3,” “Home,” “Penguins of Madagascar” and “Mr. Peabody and Sherman.”

Austin Peay State University fraternity raising money, awareness for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Earlier this semester, Austin Peay State University’s Alpha Tau Omega fraternity chapter presented a $20,000 check to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

The fraternity hosts an annual event on campus, Jump for Jude, to support the hospital.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation held annual Wettest Egg Hunts Saturday

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – On Saturday, March 16th, Clarksville Parks and Recreation held their 4th annual Wettest Egg Hunts at the Indoor Aquatic Center, located at 166 Cunningham Lane.

The swimming pool and wading pool had thousands of scattered eggs for the kids to jump in and get for candy and prizes.

High school students can earn college credit through dual enrollment at APSU

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – High school juniors and seniors looking to jumpstart their college careers now have financial incentives to take dual enrollment courses at Austin Peay State University.

Tuition for dual enrollment classes, for up to 12 credit hours per semester, is now $166.00 per hour, which is significantly lower than regular tuition.

Dunbar Cave State Park Programs for March 26th – 31st, 2016

Dunbar Cave State Park - Clarksville TNClarksville, TNDunbar Cave State Natural Area has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.

Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs during the year. There are programs for children and adults.

Some of the upcoming events include: Evening Hike, Wildflower Hike, Bird Hike, Walk with the Ranger and Trail of Tears at Port Royal.

Noted novelist, activist Marnie Mueller to speak at APSU’s Asanbe Diversity Symposium

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – The path that Marnie Mueller would forge during her career was, in many ways, foreshadowed by the circumstances that led to the first moments of her life.

Born to Caucasian American parents during World War II, Mueller nonetheless was born behind the barbed wire fences of a Northern California segregation camp designed to keep Japanese Americans contained during the war effort.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – Fort Defiance Interpretive Center, located at 120 Duncan Street, will host a reenactment by the 5th Tennessee and book signing event Saturday, March 19th.

Come see uniformed Civil War re-enactors from the 5th Tennessee who will provide living history and musket firing demonstrations from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
