Dunbar Cave State Park to hold Cave Hikes in July, 2016

Clarksville, TN – In July, Dunbar Cave State Park will hold cave hikes Wednesday through Sunday at 10:00am.
Due to the presence of White Nose Syndrome (WNS) in our cave, clean caving protocols are in effect.
Each person must bring two pairs of shoes- boots or shoes with good traction, and any type of footwear to change into so that the WNS fungus is not carried out on your shoes.

Clarksville, TN – The Customs House Museum and Cultural Center is located in historic downtown Clarksville, Tennessee. Come explore an entire city block featuring large gallery spaces filled with fine art, science and history.

Marcelius Braxton hired as new director of APSU’s Wilbur N. Daniel African American Cultural Center

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University has hired Marcelius Braxton as the new director for the APSU Wilbur N. Daniel African American Cultural Center effective July 1st.
Braxton previously worked at Missouri University of Science and Technology, where he served as a student service coordinator for the University’s Student Diversity, Outreach and Women’s Programs (SDOWP).
Clarksville-Montgomery County Industrial Development Board Receives $212,000 from State for Business Park Development

Clarksville, TN – State of Tennessee Economic and Community Development (ECD) Commissioner Randy Boyd visited Clarksville Tuesday morning, June 28th to present the Clarksville-Montgomery County Industrial Development Board (IDB) a check for a little more than $212,000.
The site development grant was awarded to select communities across Tennessee to prepare economic development sites for market.

Downtown Artists Co-op’s 1st Annual T-Shirt Design Contest and Exhibition

Clarksville, TN – Downtown Artists Co-op (DAC) is excited to announce something different this July! This summer of 2016, DAC is celebrating the humble, but always popular, T-Shirt.
We asked area artists to design the front of our new T-Shirt; the goal was celebrating the creative life and representing the ever-growing Clarksville arts scene and our diverse, talented local artists.
In addition this month, DAC will have all new works from our members on our “retail side” (to the left). This fun, summertime opening reception will be on Thursday, July 7th from 5:00pm-8:00pm.
APSU, Volunteer State announcement dual admission agreement

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University and Volunteer State Community College have made it easier to complete the work necessary to achieve a college degree.
Through a dual admission agreement, students who meet the admissions criteria can now complete an associate degree at VSCC and receive admission to APSU in order to work toward a bachelor’s degree. Students may also complete courses at APSU, which may be transferred back to VSCC to help fulfill associate degree requirements.
Montgomery County Veterans Treatment Court held All Rise for Exercise event, June 14th

Clarksville, TN – “PT for PTSD” was the motto of the day at All Rise for Exercise, an event created by the Montgomery County Veterans Treatment Court (VTC). On June 14th, 2016, Austin Peay’s Foy Fitness Center opened their doors to VTC participants, staff, and Judge Kenneth R. Goble Jr.
All Rise for Exercise is a one hour workout session where participants enjoy the benefits of physical activity.

Warm up exercises, led by Sara Kluttz, owner of Prime Fitness Clarksville, helped get everyone prepare for their work-out.
Registration is Underway for Clarksville’s Wonder Kids Triathlon

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation is excited to host the 4th Annual Wonder Kids Triathlon to be held Saturday, August 6th! This event is open to boys and girls ages 3-12 and will take place at the area surrounding New Providence Pool located at 168 Cunningham Lane.
Just like in a traditional triathlon, the Wonder Kids Triathlon athletes will participate in three legs of the event: swimming, biking and running.
Red River Breeze presents World Music with a Celtic Flair at the Roxy Regional Theatre on Saturday, July 16th

Clarksville, TN – On the heels of last December’s sold-out “Celtic Christmas Concert,” popular local music group Red River Breeze returns to the Roxy Regional Theatre this summer for a concert featuring world folk music with a Celtic flair on Saturday, July 16th, at 7:00pm.
While the mercury will be reaching for the opposite end of the scale this time around, the same creative energy and first-rate musicianship which entertained a packed house at Red River Breeze’s Christmas concert will be brought to the stage at next month’s show.
Registration now open for APSU Community School of the Arts’ July and August art and dance classes

Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Community School of the Arts is now accepting registrations for July and August classes in art and dance.
Two art camps are scheduled for July 11th-15th. Art for Children, ages 6-10 years, will meet from 9:00am to noon. This class offers diverse, real studio-based art education in a wide range of visual media.
