APSU Department of Theatre and Dance presents 11th Annual Spring Dance Concert

Clarksville, TN – The APSU Department of Theatre and Dance opened its production of the 11th Annual Spring Dance Concert on Wednesday, February 22nd, 2017.
This year’s production features dance works choreographed by APSU faculty, students and Laurie Goux, a guest artist who completed a residency in Afro-Caribbean dance technique.

Clarksville, TN – The “Planters Bank Presents…” film series next movie is one of the most-loved and celebrated films in history, “Singing in the Rain”. This movie will be shown this Sunday, February 26th, 2017 at the Roxy Regional Theatre at 2:00pm.
Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds and Donald O’Connor star in Singin’ in the Rain, one of the greatest and most successful musicals ever filmed – filled with memorable songs, lavish routines and Kelly’s fabulous song-and-dance number performed in the rain.

Contemporary textile artist Sonya Clark to visit Austin Peay State University

Clarksville, TN – With support from the APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts (CECA), the Austin Peay State University Department of Art and Design will welcome award-winning textile artist Sonya Clark to the campus for a visiting artist lecture at 7:00pm on March 15th, in the Morgan University Center, room 303.
With support from CECA, all Art and Design events are free and open to the public.

Lone Oak Baptist Church to hold Golf Scramble on April 22nd

Cunningham TN – On Saturday, April 22nd, 2017, the Lone Oak Baptist Church will host a Golf Scramble at the Eastland Green Golf Course. Tee time is 1:00pm. The event is expected to last until 6:00pm.
The cost is $50.00 per person or $200.00 per team. There will be prizes for 1st place, 2nd place, and 3rd place as well as closest to the pin and longest drive.

All proceeds from the Golf Scramble goes to support the Lone Oak Baptist Church Nicaragua Mission Team.
CDE Lightband Increases Internet Speeds to Customers

Clarksville, TN – CDE Lightband, the municipal power and broadband provider in the city of Clarksville, announced today the release of new, faster Internet speeds for all of their existing customers.
The speeds will increase almost all of the customer speeds for both residential and commercial use by five times the speed they have today.
APSU offering undergrad and grad programs in cybersecurity

Clarksville, TN – The numbers, released earlier this year by the Pew Research Center, are a little disheartening. According to the center’s recent survey on online security, 64 percent of Americans “have personally experienced a major data breach,” and 41 percent of Americans “have encountered fraudulent charges on their credit cards.”
For government agencies and businesses, both large and small, the news doesn’t seem to be getting any better.

Job postings for cybersecurity openings have grown 91 percent from 2010-2014 according to Burning Glass Technologies.

Waste Industries Invests $5,000 in LEAP’s Capital Campaign

Clarksville, TN – Waste Industries donated $5,000 to support youth and individuals seeking to attain emotional wellness and economic independence as a part of LEAP ORG’s Youth Program.
Thane Harrison, Waste Industries General Manager supports his company’s Full Circle Project, a Clarksville-based charitable effort allowing its customers to enroll in e-billing to choose where the companies charitable giving should be directed.
LEAP ORG was selected because they have served over 1100 youth ages 11 to 24 since 2009.
Austin Peay Center of Excellence for The Creative Arts presents alumnae reading, short film screening

Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts welcomes two alumnae to campus as author Laurie Cannady and filmmaker Jennifer Callahan return on Thursday, February 23rd, 2017 for a reading and a short film screening.
The reading and screening will take place at 4:00p. in room 303 of the Morgan University Center on the University campus. The event is free and open to the public.
