Serving as chairman for a one-year term beginning July 1st, is Charlie Koon, Director of Workforce & Economic Development at Workforce Essentials. Koon was named the 2015 Middle Tennessee Workforce Services Employee of the Year by the Tennessee Department of Labor and in 2008 he was named Clarksville’s “Citizen of the Year.”

Customs House Museum receives restored Civil War diary

Local Groups, Individuals provide funds to have Civil War Diary cleaned, restored, returned to Custom House Museum

Clarksville Arts and Heritage Development CouncilClarksville, TN – An important record of Clarksville’s past returned, cleaned and restored, this month to Customs House Museum and Cultural Center thanks to help from several local organizations and individuals.

Serepta Jordan’s diary from 1857 to 1864 in New Providence records murders, slave insurrections, the building of Fort Defiance (then known as Fort Sevier), mustering of troops, battles fought and lost during America’s Civil War, along with births, deaths, marriages, and details of daily 19th-century life.

Customs House Curator of Collections Kali Mason receives a $500.00 check from Jeff Harris, treasurer of the Montgomery County Historical Society, to help pay for restoration of the journal kept by New Providence resident Serepta Jordan from 1857 to 1864.

Tickets On Sale Now For CAR YPN’s Handbags For Hope

Clarksville Association of REALTORSClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Association of Realtors (CAR) will host the fourth annual Handbags For Hope at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center on Saturday, August 12th, 2017.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Urban Ministry’s SafeHouse for Women and the CAR Young Professionals Network Mike Groves Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Handbags For Hope will feature over 200 handbags, wallets, and tote bags for women and men in a silent and live auction. The live auction will feature special “themed” bags with hundreds of dollars worth of special items inside.

Clarksville-Montgomery County Welcomes AAU Boys’ National Basketball Championships July 7th-12th

Visitor Spending Expected to Total $2.5 Million

Visit Clarksville TennesseeClarksville, TN – Clarksville-Montgomery County is poised to welcome nearly 3,000 guests next week for two divisions of the Amateur Athletic Union’s Boy’s 10-and-Under National Basketball Championships.

Since 1999, the city has hosted dozens of regional and national AAU basketball events. This year, 53 teams from 16 states including Utah, New York, Texas, New Jersey, Michigan, Maryland, Louisiana, Indiana and most states bordering Tennessee, will make their way to Clarksville for championship play.

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – On April 12th, 1985, Dr. Rhea Seddon sat on 4.5 million pounds of explosives. It was a moment she’d been preparing for most of her life, but that didn’t stop her from feeling a little anxious.

Children’s Auditions for “The Wizard of Oz” at the Roxy Regional Theatre on Saturday, July 8th

Clarskville's Roxy Regional TheatreClarksville, TN – Local youth will have the opportunity to work alongside professional actors when the Roxy Regional Theatre holds children’s auditions for Munchkins and other ensemble characters in “The Wizard of Oz” on Saturday, July 8th, 2017 at noon.

Children ages 8 and up should come prepared with “Ding Dong! The Witch Is Dead” and be dressed to move in comfortable clothing and shoes, as the audition will also include a dance portion.
