Clarksville-Montgomery County Public LibraryClarksville, TN – February is African-American History Month, and the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library is celebrating in a variety of ways! There will be special programs all month, intended to educate participants on African-American History. All of the library’s events are completely free of charge.

Have you ever wondered about your ancestry but aren’t sure where to begin your research? The Beginner Genealogy Class this weekend will focus specifically on studying African-American genealogy. All experience levels are welcome to attend on Saturday, February 10th from 10:00-11:00 a.m. The class will be held in the computer lab on the second floor.

APSU ROTC looking for college sophomores, offering $5,000 bonus

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s ROTC program is looking for the best and brightest college students in the country, and the U.S. Army is willing to pay a little extra for these qualified soldiers.

Through the Army, Austin Peay’s ROTC program is now offering a $5,000 bonus to college sophomores who complete the program’s cadet basic training and go on to become commissioned officers.

Donors urged to help American Red Cross maintain Blood Supply

Severe winter weather, flu disrupting blood donations

American Red CrossNashville, TN – Winter storms and the flu don’t just mean a lot of people are missing work and school – it also means they can’t keep their American Red Cross blood and platelet donation appointments.

The Red Cross is urging healthy donors of all blood types to roll up a sleeve to help maintain the blood supply for patients in need.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation now accepting registrations for Youth Baseball, Softball Leagues

Co-ed programs offered for ages 3-14

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation youth baseball and softball leagues registration is underway. Participants can register now through March 26th, 2018 at the Parks and Recreation office, 102 Public Square, or online at www.cityofclarksville.com/parksrec

Specific leagues include baseball (ages 9-14), softball (ages 7-10), coach pitch (ages 7-8), T-ball (ages 5-6) and Blastball!® (ages 3-4). All leagues are co-ed, and open to boys and girls.

High Roller Criterium Bicycle Series Comes to Downtown Clarksville

Visit Clarksville TennesseeClarksville, TN – Visit Clarksville and Riverside Bicycle Racing announce Clarksville’s first High Roller Criterium, or crit, will take place on Saturday, May 19th, 2018 in historic downtown Clarksville.

A criterium, or crit, is a bike race consisting of several laps around a closed circuit, the length of each lap or circuit ranging from about 500 to 1000 meters. In Clarksville’s case, the course is a flat four-corner course, .8 miles in length, with tight turns around Franklin Street, Public Square, Main Street and Fourth Street.

Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library brings the world of Harry Potter to Life

Clarksville-Montgomery County Public LibraryClarksville, TN – Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library was transformed to look like The Wizarding World of Harry Potter last Thursday as more than 1,000 guests were expected to come out for Harry Potter Book Night.

Children’s Library Assistant Joanna Katz was dressed in a replica of Hermione’s Jewel Ball dress from the fourth movie. Many library employees as well as local children and their parents also joined in the fun, portraying characters from Hagrid to Harry Potter.
