Clarksville’s 40th Annual Queen City Road Race not dampened by rain

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville’s 40th Annual Queen City Road Race saw runners and walkers of all ages take to the streets of Downtown Clarksville in spite of relentless heavy rain that lasted throughout Saturday morning.
Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s Tina Boysha was once again at the helm of the popular event.
1,200 runners came out Saturday for a rainy Queen City Road Race.
APSU holds 2018 Spring Commencement

Clarksville, TN – Spring Commencement Exercises for Austin Peay State University’s 89th Commencement Year were held Friday, with almost 1,300 students receiving diplomas, and an inspirational commencement address from Valerie Hunter-Kelly, Co-owner Keller Williams Realty-Clarksville.
The Spring Commencement consisted of three sessions, with ceremonies at 8:00am, Noon, and 4:00pm to accommodate the graduates, their friends and families.
APSU held three graduation ceremonies Friday May 4th, recognizing approximately 1,300 graduates.
Local Auditions for “Oklahoma!” and Roxy Regional Theatre’s Season 36 to be held on Saturday, May 26th

Clarksville, TN – Local auditions for the Roxy Regional Theatre’s summer production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “Oklahoma!” and the 2018-2019 season will be held Saturday, May 26th, 2018 beginning at 10:00am.
Auditions, which are for ages 12 and up, are by appointment only. Actors must be able to attend daytime rehearsals and performances.
To schedule an appointment, interested auditionees should submit photos and resumes to casting@roxyregionaltheatre.org by noon on Friday, May 25th.

Middle College at Austin Peay State University holds Prom at Roxy Regional Theatre

Clarksville, TN – The Middle College at Austin Peay State University took a different approach to prom this year, choosing to hold their festivities at downtown Clarksville’s iconic Roxy Regional Theatre.
In charge of this year’s prom, was school newcomer Jodi Carrier.
Middle College held its 2018 Prom at Roxy Regional Theatre.
Clarksville Residents invited to join Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive

Clarksville Letter carriers food drive will be May 12th
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville members of the National Association of Letter Carriers invite local residents to join them in their 26th annual National Food Drive on Saturday, May 12th, 2018.
The Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, the country’s largest single-day food drive, provides residents with an easy way to donate food to those in need.
Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan presented a proclamation in support of the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. The drive, conducted by local letter carriers, will be Saturday, May 12th. Clarksville’s May First Thursday Art Walk has large turnout

Clarksville, TN – Downtown Clarksville’s First Thursday Art Walk for May saw perfect weather, new venues, and big crowds, as local artists showed off their latest creations.
The recently-opened Downtown Commons joined in the First Thursday fun for the first time, featuring live music from It’s Relative, the musical brother/sister duo of Nashville-based musicians Jeremiah & Jordan Johnson.
The Riverview Inn hosted local photographer, Lucas Ryan Chambers, an internationally published photographer and graphic designer based in Clarksville, TN.
Several downtown establishments featured local artists for Clarksville’s May First Thursday Art Walk.
Roxy Regional Theatre to Unveil 36th Season at “Happenin’ at the Hollemans'” on Friday, May 11th

For the sixth consecutive year, Mark, Ricki, John Mark and Will Holleman will host “Happenin’ at the Hollemans,” an evening of entertainment featuring the unveiling of the Roxy Regional Theatre’s highly-anticipated “Season36: Theatre You Can’t Resist”, on Friday, May 11th, 2018 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.
Hilltop Supermarket’s 3rd annual Dwayne Byard Memorial BBQ Cook Off a great success despite rain

Clarksville, TN – It might have been raining, but spirits were high at Hilltop Supermarket’s 3rd annual Dwayne Byard Memorial BBQ Cook Off.
The cook off was held in honor of Dwayne Byard who past away three years ago. Proceeds from the event went towards a scholarship fund for Dwayne’s grandchildren.
Seventeen teams competed for trophies and cash prizes. There was BBQ, ribs and more for sale.

Hilltop Supermarket kicked off the 2018 Dwayne Byard Memorial BBQ Cook-Off, Friday night

Clarksville, TN – On Friday night, May 4th, 2018, Hilltop Supermarket held their 1st annual Country Kids Cook-Off. The event is part of the 2018 Dwayne Byard Memorial BBQ Cook-Off.
Hundreds of people attended the event despite the overcast skies and chance of rain. The rain held off and it turned into a wonderful night.
“This is just an all around good community event right here at Hilltop and always appreciated what they do to bring the community together,” said Montgomery County Sheriff John Fuson.
