Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s The New Gallery, with support from The APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts and the APSU Department of Art + Design, is pleased to present Wendy Red Star: Apsáalooke Feminist, Four Seasons, White Squaw, to continue an exciting 2018-19 exhibition season.
Artist Wendy Red Star works across disciplines to explore the intersections of Native American ideologies and colonialist structures, both historically and in contemporary society.

“Fall” from Wendy Red Star’s “Four Seasons” series. Red Star will exhibit her works October 1st-26th at APSU’s The New Gallery and speak at the university 6:00pm October 4th.
Clarksville BBQ Bash registration deadline approaches

Clarksville, TN – Participants of all fitness levels are invited to join in the Clarksville BBQ Bash on Saturday, October 20th, 2018 to run or walk a course at Liberty Park and grab a taste of beer and barbecue at the finish line.
Each participant will receive an event T-shirt and finish with a full belly! Runners are encouraged to make a day of it and stay for the Clarksville BBQ Bash activities.
APSU freshman’s nonprofit feeding children in Uganda

Clarksville, TN – On a warm afternoon in the African nation of Uganda, two young boys named Elvis and Kalvin took turns writing the words “Be the change” on a piece of paper.
That paper eventually made its way across the Atlantic Ocean to Clarksville, Tennessee, where 18-year-old Austin Peay State University freshman Mallory Fundora took it to a tattoo artist and had the mantra permanently written across her forearm.
Clarksville hosts Boys and Girls Cross Country Middle School State Championships, October 6th

Clarksville, TN – Visit Clarksville says close to 2,200 athletes, coaches, and spectators will visit Clarksville on Saturday, October 6th, 2018 for the Class A and AA Boys and Girls Cross Country Middle School State Championships.
Armed with tents, coolers and plenty of water, family members will cheer runners along the two-mile course beside the Hilldale Baptist Church Family Life Center, 250 Old Farmers Road.

APSU Drone Club to launch inaugural racing season on Friday

Clarksville, TN – We’re going to level with you. The Austin Peay State University Drone Club’s racing drones are too fast for we at Public Relations to catch on video. When they really get rocking, they travel around 100 mph, and we can’t keep up with them.
They’re just a blur.

The Drone Club at APSU has three drone racers who will vie this week to qualify for the national championship next spring. The drones can travel up to 100 mph. Bigger racing drones can go faster. (APSU student Denzil Wyatt)
City of Clarksville, TSSA agree to step up talks

Clarksville, TN – The Tennessee State Soccer Association has accepted the City of Clarksville’s invitation to begin negotiating a potential management and use agreement for a state soccer park as part of a new Clarksville Athletic Complex.
TSSA said Tuesday in a letter to Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan that it “wishes to enter the next phase of negotiations” and that its board will vote on December 1st to select a site for its statewide soccer complex.
High schoolers experience campus life during Austin Peay’s AP Day on October 6th

Clarksville, TN – When Lynzie Averitt started looking at colleges last fall, she thought she’d end up at the University of Tennessee at Martin. But then, in October of 2017, the Houston County High School senior decided to visit Austin Peay State University for AP Day.
“That made the decision for me,” Averitt said. “I came to AP Day, and that’s the day I decided to come to Austin Peay. I just loved the atmosphere and all the stuff the University offered. For me, the major deciding factor was AP Day.”
APSU Department of Theatre and Dance to present Arthur Miller’s ‘All My Sons’

Clarksville, TN – On Thursday, October 4th, 2018 the Austin Peay State University Department of Theatre and Dance will open its 2018-19 season with “All My Sons” by Arthur Miller. The production will run through Sunday, October 7th.
Show times are 7:30pm Thursday-Saturday, with matinee performances 2:00pm on Saturday and Sunday. All performances are at the Margaret Fort Trahern Laboratory Theatre.
