Clarksville's Tilted KiltClarksville, TN – On Monday, July 29th, 2019, Tilted Kilt is partnering with Smitty’s Beard Sauce for a Fort Campbell USO Fundraiser to celebrate National Chicken Wing Day.

Smitty’s Beard Sauce “Scotch Bonnet” BBQ Sauce will be available as an option for Tilted Kilt’s famous chicken wings that day. 20% of all chicken wing sales that day will go to the Fort Campbell USO.

Smitty’s Beard Sauce is a veteran owned and operated local Clarksville business.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – On Saturday, August 3rd, 2019, the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department will hold a pool party at the annual Back to School Splash from 6:00pm-8:00pm.

Registered students will enjoy a fun time at the pool and will receive a backpack full of grade-appropriate school supplies along with a hot dog or pizza, chips, drink and cookie.

Cooling at the Cave to be held at Dunbar Cave, Saturday July 27th, 2019

Dunbar Cave State ParkClarksville, TN – On Saturday, July 27th, 2019, the Friends of Dunbar Cave will celebrate the tradition of Cooling at the Cave from 3:00pm-5:00pm at the entrance to historic Dunbar Cave.

The concert is free and open to the public. What better way to spend a summer afternoon than Cooling at the Cave enjoying the music of the Cumberland Winds Jazz Project.

Prior to air conditioning being widely available, locals would gather at the mouth of the cave to enjoy the cool air gently blowing from the mouth of the cave.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation forming NFL Youth Flag Football League

July 17, 2019

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is offering an organized NFL flag football league for youths in Clarksville this fall. Boys and girls, ages 5-10 are invited to take part. Weekly practices begin August 24th, 2019 with league play on Saturdays through November 2nd at Liberty Park.

APSU twirler Melvin to compete at National Collegiate Championships

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – On July 23rd-27th, 2019, Izzy Melvin, Austin Peay State University featured twirler, will represent the state of Tennessee at the National Collegiate Championships at the University of Notre Dame.

Melvin earned the right by winning Miss College Majorette of Tennessee at the Tennessee State Twirling Championships in April.

Austin Peay, Montgomery County work together to keep juveniles out of court, on campus

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Jaclyn Lyons grew up in Chicago, in a neighborhood so rough that most of her childhood friends ended up in prison, addicted to drugs or the victims of violence. In 2009, Lyons joined the U.S. Army to escape that bleak environment, but she never forgot the young faces of her friends from those years before they lost hope.

Ingredients for Hope set for July 27th

Ingredients for HopeClarksville, TN – On Saturday, July 27th, 2019,  “Ingredients for Hope,” a Crockpot Meal Tasting event benefiting Clarksville’s Safehouse and Safeplace, will be held from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Trinity Episcopal Church in Downtown Clarksville.

Girl Scout Troop 779 Ambassador Ryleigh Welsh has been working with Urban Ministries Director CC Carmack and Legal Aid Victim Advocate Tabitha Tackett to organize this event which will benefit families leaving the Safehouse and Safeplace shelters to establish homes of their own. Many of these families leave with nothing to start their new homes.
