Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, August 3rd, 2019, Manna Café Ministries and Hands & Feet 4 Christ are hosting a Back-to-School Giveaway at the Manna Village (605 Providence Boulevard) from 10:00am to 1:00pm.
This Back-to-School Giveaway will have clothing available for children and parents in need, as well as free food and haircuts!
Dunbar Cave State Park to hold Hummingbird and Butterfly Festival, August 17th

Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, August 17th, 2019, the 4th annual Hummingbird and Butterfly Festival will be held at Dunbar Cave State Park in Clarksville, Tennessee.
This is a FREE event and a great way to spend an educational day outdoors for all ages. Parking at the park is limited but overflow parking with a shuttle is available at Dunbar Cave Baptist Church, 300 Dunbar Cave Road.
The festival will take place rain or shine. We look forward to seeing you there.
Artists Invited to Show Work at Collinsville Artisan Fair

Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, October 5th, 2019, Historic Collinsville Pioneer Settlement is hosting a one-day Artisan Fair from 10:00am to 2:00pm as part of Tennessee Craft Week (October 4th-13th).
Artists and craftspeople are invited to bring a table to show and sell their work. They are looking for artists and craftspeople who work with jewelry, pottery, fabric, metal, photography, paints, wood—any material that showcases artistic and hand-crafted products.
Austin Peay State University names 2019 alumni award winners

Clarksville, TN – This November, during Austin Peay State University’s 2019 Homecoming celebration, the University will honor six distinguished individuals with this year’s APSU Alumni Awards.
The 2019 honorees are Outstanding Service Award recipients Dee Boaz and Shan Smith (’78); Outstanding Young Alumni Award recipients Catie Clinard (’11) and Bryan Johnson (’04); and Outstanding Alumni Award recipients Khandra Smalley (’05) and Richard Bibb (’65).
Clarksville’s Dunbar Cave State Park Programs for August 3rd – 4th, 2019

Clarksville, TN – Dunbar Cave State Natural Area has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.
Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs during the year. There are programs for children and adults.

APSU feature twirler Izzy Melbin finishes eighth in nation in three-baton championship

Clarksville, TN – Feature twirler, Izzy Melvin, for Austin Peay State University (APSU) finished eighth in the nation in the advanced three-baton championship at this month’s America’s Youth on Parade U.S. and World Twirling Championships at the University of Notre Dame.
Cooling at the Cave back, bigger than ever

Clarksville, TN – The Friends of Dunbar Cave hosted its annual Cooling at the Cave on Saturday, July 27th, 2019, drawing what some said was the largest crowd ever for the event that takes the citizens of Clarksville more than half-a-century back in time.
Hundreds enjoyed the music of Clarksville’s own Cumberland Winds Jazz Project, under the direction of Mike Ritter. The band set up near the mouth of the cave, from which spills cool air year round. A feature that decades ago made Dunbar Cave the most popular venue in town.

Friends of Dunbar Cave hosted its annual Cooling at the Cave, with a live musical performance by Clarksville’s own Cumberland Winds Jazz Project.
Austin Peay State University history professor nominated for second international award of year

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) history professor Dr. Somaditya Banerjee has been nominated for an international achievement award for the second time this year.

Banerjee traveled to London, England, in May to accept the Mahatma Gandhi Leadership Award, presented by the Non-Resident Indian Welfare Society of India. (APSU)
Clarksville Arts & Heritage seeks Artwork Submissions for 2020 Calendar

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Arts & Heritage Development Council (AHDC) is putting out a call to artists who are interested in having their work featured in the 12th annual Cultural Calendar. Each month will feature an artist’s work and highlight upcoming arts and heritage events.
Submitted work will be juried to determine which piece is featured each month, as well as which artwork appears on the cover. As in years past, calendars will be available through AHDC’s website, as well as in the Customs House Museum’s “Seasons” gift shop and other locations around town.
