Austin Peay State University Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts receives grant to bolster efforts with local school teachers

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts recently received a $10,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to expand the University’s arts education partnership with the local school system.

Clarksville’s Dunbar Cave State Park Programs for August 17th-18th, 2019

Tennessee State ParksClarksville, TNDunbar Cave State Natural Area has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.

Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs during the year. There are programs for children and adults.

The upcoming events include: Hummingbird and Butterfly Festival, Candlelight Yoga at the Cave, and Unknown Realms.

Vendor spots still available for 14th annual Frolic on Franklin

Frolic on FranklinClarksville, TN – With over a month to go, booth space at the 14th annual “Frolic on Franklin: A Celebration of the Arts” is already going quickly.  Less than ten slots remain for artists and arts demonstrators at this year’s event.

Interested artists may download a vendor application at www.roxyregionaltheatre.org/frolic.  Completed applications, with a $30.00 entry fee, must be received by Monday, August 12th.

Frolic on Franklin will be held on Saturday, September 14th, 2019 from 8:30am to 3:30pm, in the 100-block of Franklin Street in Historic Downtown Clarksville.

Customs House Museum and Cultural Center features new works from Paul Harmon

Harmon’s signature themes of reclining nudes and literary references are showcased in more than fifty works.

Montgomery County Ranks Second-Highest of all Tennessee Counties for Tourism Growth

Visitor Spending in Montgomery County Tops $244.7 Million in 2018

Visit Clarksville TennesseeClarksville, TN – Montgomery County saw the second-highest growth rate in tourism spending of all 95 Tennessee counties during 2018. Direct travel spending increased 9.12% over 2017, for a record-high of $244.7 million. 

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee and Department of Tourist Development Commissioner Mark Ezell announced Tuesday that the state hit a record-high $22 billion in domestic and international travel spending, up 6% from 2017.
