Clarksville Senior Olympics start May 4th

Clarksville, TN –Senior adults ages 50 and up can register now until May 2nd for the 2011 Clarksville Senior Olympics. This year’s events will be May 4th-7th at various locations around Clarksville, including The Swan Lake Sports Complex and Golf Course, Kleeman Community Center, The Pinnacle Bowling Center, and Burt-Cobb Community Center.
Seniors will face off for bragging rights, as well as medals in more than 20 challenging events, which include shuffleboard, tennis, track, golf, bowling, basketball free throw, pickle ball and billiards. Because we now have the Indoor Aquatic Center, swimming events have been added. [Read more]
Clarksville Parks & Recreation congratulates Pitch, Hit and Run Local Competition finalists

Clarksville, TN – The results are in for the Aquafina Pitch, Hit and Run competition that was held Saturday, April 23rd, at Heritage Park. The six winning youngsters between the ages of 7 and 14 will advance from the local competition to the Sectional Competition in Chattanooga on May 22nd. [Read more]
Queen City Road Race Road Closures

Clarksville, TN – Downtown Clarksville and Austin Peay State University’s campus will be subject to traffic control on race day — May 1st from 12:15pm until approximately 2:30pm for the event.
The following streets on the campus will be affected for the 5K Races: Marion Street, Drane Street, Farris Drive, Robb Avenue, 8th Street, Henry Street and Hannum Street. In downtown, the following streets will be affected: North 2nd Street, Main Street, Public Square, Franklin Street, 1st Street from Franklin to Commerce Street, Commerce Street from 1st to 3rd Streets, 3rd Street to Franklin Street, University Avenue from Franklin Street to College Street, and College Street to 8th Street. 2011 Spring Eggstravaganza!

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department held their Annual Spring Eggstravaganza Saturday, April 23rd at the Heritage Park Baseball Fields.
The event started ran from 2:00pm to 5:00pm and included games, face painting, a three-legged race, an egg-on-a-spoon race, bunny hop race, and the hunting of more than 30,000 eggs.
All races were held from 3:15pm to 3:45pm at the larger field for ages 12 and under. Kids even got a visit to the Easter Bunny himself!
Sleep Under the Stars at the Parks & Recreation Family Campout

Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department invites you to sleep under the stars at Billy Dunlop Park. Join us for a family camp out beginning at 2:00pm Saturday, May 21st, until 9:00am Sunday, May 22nd, at the park located at 1930 East Boy Scout Road.

Clarksville, TN – Have you ever heard of geocaching? The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department invites you to take part in a Geocaching Class on Saturday, May 7th from 8:00am until 10:00am at Billy Dunlop Park, located at 1930 East Boy Scout Road.
Geocaching uses GPS devices to hide and seek containers called “geocaches,” very similar to a treasure hunt! [Read more]
Queen City Road Race “Early Bird” Deadline Quickly Approaching

The Queen City Road Race event is a Clarksville tradition promoting fitness and fun for all ages. The 5K race route takes runners through the streets of Historic Downtown Clarksville beginning and ending at Austin Peay State University’s Governors Stadium while the One Mile Movement takes you on an exciting tour of a portion of the campus of Austin Peay. Clarksville, TN – The Coaches’ meetings for the Clarksville Parks & Recreation’s Youth League will be held next week from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at the Burt-Cobb Community Center located at 1011 Franklin Street.
Coaches for ages 3-4 and 5-6 will meet April 11th, coaches for ages 7-8 and 9-10 will meet April 12th and coaches for ages 11-12 and 13-14 will meet April 14th. [Read more]
