Clarksville, TN – McGregor Park and Trice Landing Park which had recently closed because of impeding high waters from flooding have now reopened to the public. McGregor Park opens daily at dawn and closes at midnight. Trice Landing Park opens daily at dawn and closes at dusk.

Clarksville Downtown Market to Open May 21st

Clarksville, TN – When the 2011 Clarksville Downtown Market opens Saturday, May 21st, approximately 45 vendors will be on hand offering local fresh produce, baked goods, home décor, seasonal flowers and more. The Clarksville Downtown Market is open every Saturday from opening day, May 21st until October 22nd from 8:00am to 1:00pm on Public Square.
Last year, Clarksville’s Downtown Market at Public Square was voted #1 in the state of Tennessee and #6 in the nation, in the 2010 America’s Favorite Farmers Markets contest which was hosted by American Farmland Trust. The online contest was a nationwide challenge to see which of America’s farmers markets can rally the most support from their communities- and support we did receive! Indoor Aquatic Center at New Providence is closing for the season

Clarksville, TN – The Indoor Aquatic Center at New Providence, located at 166 Cunningham Lane, closed Tuesday, May 10th for the season. The New Providence outdoor swimming pool will open May 28th along with the other City pools. The Indoor Aquatic Center at New Providence will re-open at the end of the summer season.
Be on the look-out for the 2011-12 Indoor Aquatics Program guide at that time.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation gears up for the summer season at the pools

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation department will open their five public pools on Saturday, May 28th for the summer season. Patrons may begin purchasing pool passes today, May 9th. To accommodate the pool pass sales, passes are also available for purchase at any of the three community centers through June 4th. Get your pool pass today!
Men’s Basketball League to begin at Burt-Cobb Community Center

Clarksville, TN – Do you miss the days of bounding down the hardwood floors of a gymnasium? Well, the Clarksville Parks & Recreation department is hosting a Men’s Basketball League at the Burt-Cobb Community Center, located at 1011 Franklin Street.

Clarksville, TN – Because of impeding high waters from flooding, the following parks remain closed until further notice: McGregor Park and Trice Landing Park. Billy Dunlop Park has reopened to the public.
We advise citizens to use extreme caution by avoiding these flooded areas all together.

Clarksville Parks & Recreation announces change in location of 2011 Hershey Track & Field competition

Clarksville, TN – There has been a change in location of the 2011 Hershey Track & Field competition on May 14th. The event will be held at the Kenwood High School Track, rather than the Rossview High School Track as originally announced. The competition will still be held at 9:00am.
Young athletes can sign up by picking up an application at the Parks and Recreation office or any of our three community centers.

Jammin’ in the Alley Concert Series Kicks off its Fourth Season

Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville together with U.S. Bank will soon be Jammin’ in Strawberry Alley once again. Join us on Friday, May 20th to kick off Jammin’ in the Alley’s fourth year in downtown Clarksville. This event takes place the third Friday of every month through October.
This month’s free concert features Tennessee’s premier Journey tribute band, Chain Reaction. This band began from a simple dare. While at a karaoke competition several years ago, a friend of the band’s lead singer Ryan Christopher, dared him to sing Journey’s song, “Don’t Stop Believin’,” to win the contest. Christopher was shocked how natural he felt performing the song and from that moment, he began his quest. He formed Chain Reaction with musicians Greg Vass, guitar/backing vocals; Tommy Hall, bass/backing vocals; Gene Powers, keyboards; Mike Seay, drums; and sound engineer Mark McCuiston. [Read more]
Queen City Road Race results are now available

Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, May 1st, thousands gathered at Austin Peay Sate University’s Governors Stadium to participate in the 33rd Annual Queen City Road Race. This event is a Clarksville tradition promoting fitness and fun for all ages and features the 5K Relay, 5K Wheelchair/Hand-cycle, 5K and One Mile Movement.
