Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan to lead Pet Walk at Downtown Market

Clarksville, TN – The next Mayor’s Fitness Council event will be a Pet Walk with the City of Clarksville Mayor at 10:00am, October 1st at the Clarksville Downtown Market.
Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan, accompanied by her own Maltese, Stevie Ray, will discuss the health benefits of having pets and lead the public and their four-legged friends on a walk through Downtown beginning at the lower parking lot of the market. [Read more]
City Purchases New Fire Truck

Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville recently addressed the need for a new fire truck by purchasing a new 2011 Ferrara Fire Apparatus, 57’ Quint, which was displayed Wednesday afternoon on Public Square.
The modern fire fighting machine has a tank capacity of 300 Gallons and is equipped with a pump capable of pushing 1500 gallons of water per minute, if needed. The truck has a seating capacity of 6 fire fighters and is equipped with all of the latest National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) safety features. [Read more]
Movies in the Park this Friday

Go Commando Half-Marathon and 5K on October 15th to benefit APSU scholarships

Clarksville, TN – Help raise money for Austin Peay State University scholarships by running in the community’s first GoCommando Half-Marathon and 5K next month.
The half-marathon begins at 7:30am, Saturday, October 15th. The 5K race starts at 8:00am. Both races will begin at Liberty Park and continue along the Cumberland River. The courses are certified by the USA Track and Field.
Movies in the Park this Saturday

Clarksville, TN – Join Clarksville Parks and Recreation this Saturday, September 17th, at Heritage Park Soccer Fields for this month’s Movies in the Park event, featuring the 2006 computer-animated comedy film, “Open Season”. It is rated PG.
The movie will begin around 7:15pm, with pre-show activities beginning an hour prior. Be sure to bring your picnic blankets and lawn chairs. As always, you are welcome to bring your picnic basket, but concessions will be available.
Update on the Raymond C. Hand Pass pedestrian bridge closure

Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville temporarily closed the Raymond C. Hand Pass pedestrian bridge on the Clarksville Greenway back in March of this year after slope failures occurred at both ends of the bridge.
Daniel Binkley, City of Clarksville Project Manager, said Baron+Dowdle, the contractor for the Greenway Pedestrian Bridge, has retained engineers and have developed a plan for remediating the failing slopes that they constructed last fall. [Read more]
Jammin’ in the Alley Concert Series to feature August Christopher and market vendors

Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville together with U.S. Bank will be Jammin’ in Strawberry Alley again. Join us September 16th for this month’s free concert and to enjoy yet another “night market,” featuring more than a dozen vendors from Clarksville’s weekly Downtown Market. Vendors will be set up from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, and the concert will begin at 7:00pm.

City of Clarksville to Fundraise to Save the Smith-Trahern Mansion

Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville made an announcement Friday night at the Riverfest Amatuer & Professional Art Exhibit involving the future of the Smith-Trahern mansion.
The City is embarking on a fundraising campaign to raise money for repairs to the mansion. This mid-19th century home is one of the oldest homes still in existence in Clarksville today and is on the National Register of Historic Places. [Read more]
No Clarksville Downtown Market this Weekend

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksvile Parks and Recreation Department wants to remind everyone that there will not be a Clarksville Downtown Market this weekend due to Clarksville’s Riverfest Festival on September 9th and 10th. The market will open again on September 16th with the night market from 5:00pm-8:00pm and 17th from 8:00am-1:00pm.
