Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department introduces new programming for Toddlers

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks & Recreation Department is introducing two new programs for toddlers and young children. Kindermusik ABC Music & Me and Kindermusik Family Time will both begin the full sessions on March 5th, but the Crow Community Center, located at 211 Richview Road, will be offering free demo classes on Monday, February 27th and Wednesday, February 29th.
These demo classes allow those interested a free trial of each class.

2nd Annual Coaches’ Banquet to feature SEC Basketball Legend Barry Booker

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks & Recreation is pleased to announce the keynote speaker for the 2nd annual Coaches’ Banquet to be held Thursday, March 15th at the William O. Beach Civic Hall at 6:30pm.
This year’s banquet, which will honor all coaches in the Clarksville-Montgomery County area, will feature former Vanderbilt standout and current record-holder, Barry Booker. [Read more]
Fort Defiance Interpretive Center to host Book Signing Event

Clarksville, TN – The Fort Defiance Interpretive Center, located at 120 Duncan Street, will host its first-ever book signing Saturday, February 18th from 10:00am to 3:00pm.
Carolyn Stier Ferrell will be available to sign copies of her most recent book, “Occupied: The Story of Clarksville, Tennessee During the Civil War.”

Clarksville Historical Society to present check to the City of Clarksville Parks & Recreation Department

Clarksville, TN – On Monday, February 6th at 10:00am at Sevier Station, the Clarksville Historical Society will present a check in the amount of $11,560 to the City of Clarksville Parks & Recreation Department.

Clarksville Community Centers will close temporarily for Annual Maintenance

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks & Recreation would like to remind citizens that the Burt-Cobb Community Center, located at 1101 Franklin Street, will be closed February 6th-19th to conduct their annual maintenance period.
The gymnasium will be closed February 20th-26th to replace flooring. The center will return to normal operating hours the Monday following the annual maintenance period. [Read more]

Nomination deadline approaching for Second Annual Legends Award

Clarksville, TN – The nomination deadline is quickly approaching for the second annual Clarksville Sports Festival Legends Awards. The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department along with Legends Bank have partnered in an effort to honor both current and past coaches who are or have made a unique difference and solid contribution to sports and athletics in the Clarksville-Montgomery County area.
Winning coaches will be honored at the 2011 Legends Award Banquet which will be held March 15th, 2012, beginning at 6:30pm at Montgomery County Civic Hall. Coaches that are currently coaching or coached in 2011 are invited to attend this free event. [Read more]
Kleeman Center Storytellers Program continues January 24th

Clarksville, TN – The Kleeman Community Center is partnering with the Leadership Enlightenment Academic Achievement and Perseverance Organization (L.E.A.P.) to present Storytellers at Kleeman.
Each month, children and parents can enjoy interactive story time as the storytellers from the L.E.A.P. Organization bring to life stories from cultures across the globe. [Read more]
