Clarksville’s Liberty Park opened Friday

Clarksville, TN – Liberty Park opened yesterday morning at dawn and Clarksvillians were ready and waiting for the opening of the park areas of the new Clarksville Marina.
Fishermen were the first on hand. They had been eying the pond for months looking forward for the chance to be one of the first anglers to try their luck there. By 10:00am around 20 anglers had staked out their positions around the banks.
Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department announces Local Hershey Track and Field Winners

Top Winners Advance to District Competition
Clarksville, TN – The annual local Hershey Track and Field Competition was held May 12th at Rossview High School. The competition gives young athletes a chance to showcase their skills in track and field, long jump and softball throw.
The first- and second-place athletes in each division of the local competition advanced to the District Hershey Track and Field Competition in Nashville on June 16th at E.S. Rose Park.
Clarksville Downtown Market to give away free market tote bags to the first 600 visitors

Clarksville, TN – When the 2012 Clarksville Downtown Market opens on Saturday, May 19th, approximately 60 vendors will be on hand to offer local fresh produce, baked goods, home décor, seasonal flowers and more.
The opening of this year’s market will be like none other. Kids will be invited to participate in gardening crafts, Lydia Walker will be performing, Lousie Delgandio will demonstrate how to make crepes, and give-a-ways will be handed out every thirty minutes. That’s not all, the first 600 visitors to the market, can visit the Clarksville Parks and Recreation booth to take home their very own market tote bag! [Read more]

Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department issues new requirements for dogs entering Liberty Park’s off-leash Bark Park

Clarksville, TN – In an effort to reduce the risk of the spread of possible disease in canines in Montgomery County and to reduce the number of aggressive dog incidents, the City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is requiring that all dogs entering the off-leash bark park at Liberty Park have the following vetting: Rabies vaccination, parvovirus vaccination, distemper vaccination and be spayed or neutered. Clarksville, TN – U.S. Paralympics, a division of the U.S. Olympic Committee, and the City of Clarksville’s Parks & Recreation department have partnered to create Paralympic Sport- Clarksville.
Paralympic Sport – Clarksville is a community-based sports club developed to involve youth and adults, including active duty service members and veterans, with physical and visual disabilities in ongoing sports and physical activity, regardless of skill level. All programs and activities will be based in Clarksville and run by Clarksville’s Parks & Recreation department. [Read more]

Jammin’ in the Alley concert series announces this summer’s Line-Up

Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville’s Parks and Recreation department is excited to announce the line-up for this summer’s Jammin’ in the Alley.
The annual summer concert series, presented by U.S. Bank, is now in its 5th season and will feature a variety of local talent. In addition to the live music, downtown restaurants will offer outdoor dining for concert-goers.
