Jammin’ in the Alley rocked Friday night with The Rooted Wings

Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville’s Department and Recreation held there second Jammin’ in the Alley concert of the year last night at Strawberry Alley. The concert showcased the talents of Rooted Wings, a musical duo comprised of John Winters and Samantha Hawkins.
After a few open mic night collaborations when Winters and Hawkins knew that they wanted to form a cohesive act together, and have combined their unique styles folding the blues, jazz, and a variety of popular music together into a fresh and rhythmic sound.
Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan introduces Summer Night Lights Program

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan, in conjunction with the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department and the Clarksville Police Department, is introducing a new program for youth and their families. Summer Night Lights is an eight week program, which will run from June 14th through August 3rd on Thursday and Friday nights.
The program will take place at two locations. On Thursdays, the event will be held at the Kleeman Community Center, 166 Cunningham Lane, from 6:00pm–9:30pm. On Friday evenings, it will take place at the Burt-Cobb Community Center/Dixon Park, 1011 Franklin Street, from 6:00pm–10:30pm. [Read more]
Clarksville’s Movies in the Park to show “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe” this Saturday, June 16th

Clarksville, TN – Join Clarksville Parks and Recreation at dusk on Saturday, June 16th at Heritage Park soccer fields for the viewing of “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe”- rated PG. Come early to save your spot and check out “move before the movies” before the movie featuring Tae Kwon Do basics.
Admission to the movie is free.
Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s Summer Youth Program under way and Filling up Quickly

Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department’s Summer Youth Program is under way and openings at the various sites are filling up quickly!
The Crow Community Center, Summit Heights, Minglewood Elementary School, Hazelwood Elementary School, West Creek Elementary School, locations are available for more registration, as well as two of the teen-specific sites at New Providence Middle School and Moore Elementary School.

Clarksville Downtown Market moving to McGregor Park’s RiverWalk North Extension

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Downtown Market is moving! Since it’s opening in 2008, the market has grown in popularity; so much so that it has outgrown its current location at One Public Square.
In order to allow for continual growth, the market will move to the North Extension of McGregor Park’s RiverWalk beginning Saturday, July 7th, 2012.

Riverfest announces Kip Moore as 2012 headliner

Clarksville, TN – Riverfest is excited to announce that the singer-songwriter Kip Moore will be the featured headliner at the 2012 Festival. Kip Moore will take the stage at 9:00pm as the main event on Saturday, September 8th, 2012. The concert is free and open to the public.
Kip Moore’s song “Somethin’ Bout a Truck” from his debut album, “Up All Night,” has claimed the No. 1 spot for the second consecutive week on the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart, making him the first new country artist in four years to have a debut album’s first single go No. 1 for multiple weeks. Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville’s Parks and Recreation department is excited to announce The Rooted Wings to play at the next Jammin’ in the Alley concert June 15th.
The annual summer concert series, presented by U.S. Bank, is now in its 5th season and will feature a variety of local talent. In addition to the live music, downtown restaurants will offer outdoor dining for concert-goers.
