Clarksville Parks and Recreation offers prize to volunteers for Riverfest 2012

Clarksville, TN – Why not celebrate the 25th anniversary of Clarksville Riverfest by giving back and possibly win prize money for your group or organization?
Clarksville Parks and Recreation is seeking volunteers to help with soft drink sales, the Adventure Zone children’s area, presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee, as well as the Cornhole Tournament on September 7th and 8th at McGregor Park.
The group or organization who registers the most volunteers through Hands On Clarksville by August 31st will receive $500.00. [Read more]
Riverfest Regatta adds new plastic bottle division to race

Clarksville, TN – The Riverfest Regatta, sponsored by U.S. Bank, is not your typical boat race. The boats racing down the Cumberland River Saturday morning, September 8th, will be made of cardboard, a few other approved materials and this year, plastic bottles!
Not only will teams be racing for bragging rights, but trophies will also be awarded to the first-, second- and third-place teams in each division.
Competition will be in five divisions: Adult Open, Business and Industry, Church/Civic, City Department and Military.
Clarksville Police Department entry in the 2011 Riverfest Regatta.
Recycled Fashion Show to make its debut at this year’s Riverfest

Clarksville, TN – Riverfest, the two-day music and arts festival scheduled for September 7th-8th, 2012 at McGregor Park, is excited to announce a new addition to this year’s attractions, the first annual Riverfest Recycled Fashion Show, sponsored by Bi-County Waste Management.
The show is scheduled to take place Saturday, September 8th, 2012 at 4:00pm on the Blue Cross Blue Shield Stage and is intended to educate the general public about recycling in a fun and exciting way. [Read more]
Sleep Under the Stars at the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Fall Family Campout

Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department invites you to sleep under the stars at Billy Dunlop Park. Registration is underway for the spring family camp out beginning at 2:00pm Saturday, September 29th, until 9:00am Sunday, September 30th, at the park located at 1930 East Boy Scout Road.

Select City Pools to remain open through Labor Day Weekend

Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation will be closing their public pools for the summer season on Sunday, August 5th. However, Beachaven Pool and Bel-Aire Pool will remain open August 10th through September 3rd on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings, as well Monday, September 3rd. Movies in the Park to feature “Ratatouille” this Saturday

Clarksville, TN – Join Clarksville Parks and Recreation Saturday, August 4th, 2012 at Heritage Park Soccer fields for this month’s Movies in the Park event, featuring the 2007 computer-animated film- “Ratatouille”- rated G.
“Ratatouille” is about Remy a young rat in the French countryside who arrives in Paris, only to find out that his cooking idol is dead. When he makes an unusual alliance with a restaurant’s new garbage boy, the culinary and personal adventures begin despite Remy’s family’s skepticism and the rat-hating world of humans.
Ratatouille computer-animated comedy film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures.
Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department hosts a new session of Youth Hip Hop & Jazz dance program

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is introducing a new Hip Hop & Jazz dance program at the Crow Community Center, located at 211 Richview Road, for ages 5-16 years.
Hip Hop & Jazz will begin August 15th and will be divided into classes for 5-7 years, 8-11 years and 12-16 years. This introductory class, taught by Ashley Denno, will introduce youth to the art of Jazz and Hip Hop dancing. [Read more]
“The Help” was shown at Movies in the Park Saturday night

Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, July 21st around 8:15pm, Clarksville Parks and Recreation held Movies in the Park at the Heritage Park Soccer Fields. The movie of the night was the people’s choice winner “The Help” starring Emma Stone, Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer.
Those that showed early could participate in “Move before the Movie” which featured a walk in the park and Tae Kwon Do.
Over 800 people came out to Movies in the Park to enjoy the movie “The Help” at the Heritage Park Soccer Fields.
