Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is offering a new session of their Hip Hop and Jazz dance program at the Crow Community Center, located at 211 Richview Road, for ages 5-16 years.

Hip Hop and Jazz will begin January 9th and will be divided into classes for 5-7 years, 8-11 years and 12-16 years. [Read more]

Clarksville Parks and Recreation Facilities to change Hours for December Holidays

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville’s three community centers will adjust their hours of operation this December to accommodate students in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System and their holiday schedule.

The Kleeman Community Center, Crow Community Center and Burt-Cobb Community Center will be open from 10:00am to 7:00pm beginning Thursday, December 20th and ending Friday, January 4th, 2013 as students will be out of school for the holiday break. [Read more]

Crow Community Center introduces Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s first-ever Tai Chi program

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The Crow Community Center, located at 211 Richview Road, will host a brand-new program this New Year, Tai Chi for Arthritis! Tai Chi for Arthritis will take place Tuesdays from 3:00pm to 4:00pm beginning January 8th.

Instructed by Stuart Bonnington, this program is open to adults of any age who may be suffering from arthritis. Bonnington is certified by the Arthritis Foundation as an instructor of their Tai Chi for Arthritis program. [Read more]

Santa Claus to visit Clarksville Community Centers

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – Santa Claus is coming to the Clarksville Community Centers this week!

Santa will be at the Crow Community Center from 6:00pm-7:00pm this evening, the Kleeman Community Center from 5:00pm-6:00pm on December 12th and the Burt-Cobb Community Center from 5:30pm-7:30pm on December 13th.

Each Center will host activities as well!

Volunteer mentors needed for new Clarksville Parks and Recreation Dream Chasers program

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is seeking mentors! Volunteer mentors are needed for the upcoming Dream Chasers Group Mentoring Program.

Mentors will be working with at-risk youth, ages 13-17 in a small group atmosphere. Small group leaders, guided by professionals, will mentor youth as they discuss dealing with negative influences that affect teens and will promote making healthy and informed decisions. [Read more]

2012 Jingle Bell Jog

Clarksville, TNJingle Bell JogOn Saturday, December 1st, 2012 downtown Clarksville was packed with over 429 runners adorned in Christmas themed outfits for the fourth annual Jingle Bell Jog. The City of Clarksville and Run for a Reason founded by Eddie Ferrell and Casey Jenkins hosted a one mile fun run and a 5k to raise money for a local charity.

This year all proceeds are going to The Food Initiative. The Food Initiative is a non-profit organization that hires high school students from Montgomery County and Fort Campbell to plant and harvest food for local organizations.
