37th Annual Queen City Road RaceClarksville, TN – The 37th Annual Queen City Road Race scheduled for Saturday, May 2nd, have you reserved your spot at the finish line?

The Queen City Road Race event is a Clarksville tradition promoting fitness and fun for all ages. The 7K and 5K race route takes runners through the streets of Historic Downtown Clarksville, beginning at Austin Peay State University’s Foy Center and ending inside the new Governors Stadium, while the One Mile Movement takes you on an exciting tour of a portion of the APSU campus.

For over thirty years, hundreds of Clarksville-Montgomery County and Fort Campbell school students, teachers and family members have participated in this Clarksville tradition.

The Queen City Road Race event is a Clarksville tradition promoting fitness and fun for all ages. Acuff Circle of Excellence to honor Joe W. Giles with Ovation Award

Acuff Circle of ExcellenceClarksville, TN – Joe W. Giles, an Austin Peay State University alumnus and founder of the Tennessee Arts Academy, the nation’s flagship professional development program for teachers of the arts, will be honored March 1st with the George Mabry Ovation Award.

The award is one of eight to be given by the Acuff Circle of Excellence in recognition of outstanding contributions in the arts to the Clarksville-Montgomery County community. The annual ceremony will be Sunday, March 1st, from 2:00pm-3:30pm at the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center. The public is invited to attend the ceremony and a reception that follows. Acuff Circle now accepting nominates for Ovation Awards

Acuff Circle of ExcellenceClarksville, TN – The deadline is fast approaching for nominations for the coveted Acuff Circle of Excellence Ovation Awards in the arts.

The nominees must have made significant contributions to the artistic and cultural life of the Clarksville-Montgomery County community. Anyone can submit nominations. Nominations will be accepted through Tuesday, January 20th. The awards ceremony is March 1st at the Customs House Museum.

The sponsoring Acuff Circle, a non-profit organization affiliated with the Austin Peay State University Foundation, is a patrons society of the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts. The awards have been presented since 1996. [Read more]

Junior Auxiliary of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – Are you looking for a way to give back this season? Junior Auxiliary of Clarksville is part of the “Giving on the Cumberland” event taking place during Christmas on the Cumberland at McGregor Park.

Those visiting the Christmas on the Cumberland light displays may swing by the McGregor Park Museum and take an ornament from Junior Auxiliary’s Christmas tree. Ornaments on the Junior Auxiliary tree list items that will help fill the Healthy Kids Kits that the ladies of Junior Auxiliary provide to 100 students in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System. APSU Military Alumni Chapter endowing scholarship honoring local veteran

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Military Alumni Chapter hosted its second annual scholarship endowment dinner on November 6th as part of the University’s Homecoming Week celebration.

During the event, the chapter honored retired Command Sgt. Maj. Sidney Brown, a Vietnam War veteran and active member of the Clarksville-Montgomery County community.

At the June 26th Aspire Board Meeting, it was voted and approved that Katie Gambill, and Lloyd Matson, Premier Medical Group, will serve alongside Chairman Sammy Stuard, F&M Bank, Tommy Bates, Legends Bank, and Economic Development Council Chairman Don Jenkins, Jenkins & Wynne Ford Lincoln Honda on the FY15 Aspire Board of Directors.

Aspire Clarksville Foundation annouces $4 Million Campaign Achievement

Aspire Clarksville FoundationClarksville, TN – On Monday evening, Dr. Mark Green and Joe Pitts announced that the Aspire Clarksville Foundation had garnered nearly $4 million in pledges, surpassing the current goal, and previous campaigns, by a wide margin.

Aspire Clarksville, an economic development foundation to benefit Clarksville-Montgomery County, Tennessee, officially announced in February that the goal for the entire Aspire V “Focus On The Future” Campaign was $3.8 million.

Montgomery County Relay For Life “Racing for a Cure” A Celebration of Birthdays, Hope and Courage

American Cancer Society's Relay for LifeClarksville, TN – Hundreds filled the grounds of the Hilldale Baptist Family Life Center Athletic Field in support of a celebration of life; in the collective fight for more birthdays, and that of hope for a cure and in a massive show of courage and support of the numerous cancer patients and survivors in Clarksville-Montgomery County.

Held on Saturday, May 17th, cancer survivors, family members, friends, caretakers and supporters braved the unseasonably cool evening weather gathering for what has become a tradition in Clarksville.
