Clarksville Parks and Recreation seeks vendors for 5th annual Clarksville SportsFest

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation will be hosting its fifth-annual Clarksville SportsFest on Saturday, August 15th from 10:00am until 2:00pm at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center located within Liberty Park at 1188 Cumberland Drive. SportsFest will offer a variety of sports, athletic and outdoor activities for the entire family.
Attendants can rotate through over 20 sports demonstrations of their choosing to get hands on experience in learning a new sport like Parkour, Rugby, Crossfit, Archery, Scuba, Pickleball, Lacrosse, MMA and many more!
Clarksville Center for Audiology says Healthier Diet May Help Preserve Your Hearing

Clarksville, TN – It’s well known that healthy eating habits can promote better overall health within the body, as well as alleviate a number of diet-related illnesses and diseases.
According to a new examination of the eating habits of 2,366 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey participants, those who eat more fruits and vegetables might also have better hearing — even if they’re exposed to more noise.
Lionel Bart’s “Oliver!” to Lead Roxy Regional Theatre’s 33rd Season

Clarksville, TN – In 1983 an abandoned movie house was saved from the wrecking ball, and on November 3rd, what has become the cornerstone of arts and entertainment in Clarksville-Montgomery County opened to a grand ovation.
Through grit, determination and support from likeminded individuals, the Roxy Regional Theatre is now poised to celebrate 33 years of providing an educational and artistic outlet for the Southeast.
Featuring world premieres, red-hot musicals, theatre standards and fantastic children’s programming, the Roxy Regional Theatre’s 2015-2016 mainstage season will open on September 25th with Charles Dickens’ classic tale of the boy who asked for more, Lionel Bart’s “Oliver!”
Flying High 2015 Soars in to Benefit the Customs House Museum

Clarksville, TN – Held the first Saturday of June each year, Flying High is an evening celebrating artists and the works of art of the region. Flying High is Customs House Museum’s preeminent fundraiser of the year, supporting educational and exhibit programming of the Museum.
This year’s event will be held at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center with a theme of Arabian Nights!
Clarksville-Montgomery County Memorial Day Service honors those who died serving our Country

Clarksville, TN – On Monday, May 25th, the Montgomery County Veterans Service Organization held its annual Memorial Day Ceremony. Due to rain, the ceremony was held in the William O. Beach Civic Hall, Veterans Plaza in Clarksville Tennessee.
The ceremony was opened by Frank Mir, the Director of the Montgomery County Veterans Service Organization. Mir welcomed the dignitaries and attendees to the Memorial ceremony. The colors were posted by the 101st Airborne Division Honor Guard, and Stella McKnight sang the National Anthem.
37th Annual Queen City Road Race is this Saturday

Clarksville, TN – The 37th Annual Queen City Road Race, scheduled for Saturday, May 2nd, is quickly approaching and there is still time to register!
Registration can be completed in person or online. Online registration can be completed at www.cityofclarksville.com/qcrr and is available until noon on Friday, May 1st.
Participants registering in person may come by the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Office at 102 Public Square, Clarksville, Tennessee, 37040 through Friday, May 1st or register onsite at Austin Peay’s Governors Stadium the morning of Saturday, May 2nd.
Early Bird Discount Registration deadline approaches for the 37th Annual Queen City Road Race

Clarksville, TN – The 37th Annual Queen City Road Race scheduled for Saturday, May 2nd, have you reserved your spot at the finish line? If not, you’d better act quickly to be eligible for the discounted rate of $20.00 for the 5K and 7K races.
The Early Bird discounted registration deadline is April 17th. Registration will be available through race day, however prices increase to $25.00 for the 5K and 7K races. The non-competitive One Mile Movement will remain at a $5.00 registration fee now through race day.
Registration for the Queen City Road Race is simple and may be completed online or in person. Online registration can be completed by visiting www.cityofclarksville.com/qcrr and is available onsite at 102 Public Square.
APSU installs Alisa White as 10th president

Clarksville, TN – The weather, which has been so abrasive these last few months, turned pleasant on Monday morning as people made their way into the Austin Peay State University Music/Mass Communication Building.
Instead of lingering under that clear, warm sky, hundreds of well-wishers eagerly filed into the windowless Mabry Concert Hall to watch Dr. Alisa White officially become the University’s tenth president.
“Dr. White, we’re thrilled you’re here,” Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam said during the ceremony. “We can’t think of a more important time to be involved in higher education or a more important university.”

Junior Auxiliary of Clarksville host 4th annual Cheers for Charity – tickets on sale now

Clarksville, TN – Looking for something fun to do? How about a wine tasting with some added flair? Junior Auxiliary of Clarksville will host the 4th annual Cheers for Charity on Saturday, April 11th at the Sango Event Center. Tickets are on sale now!
Cheers for Charity is an evening of wine tasting with a little competition! Each team, consisting of two people, will bring three bottles of the same wine.
Upon check in, two bottles are bagged and numbered for tasting. The third bottle is set aside to be awarded to the winning teams. [Read more]
