Bridgestone Metalpha, U.S.A., Inc. announces a $75 Million Expansion of Their Clarksville, TN Location

(BMU) announced today that they are planning a $75 million expansion to their site in the Clarksville-Montgomery County Corporate Business Park. This location serves as the US Corporate Headquarters for steel cord production.

Miss Tennessee USA Pageant Tickets on Sale Now

Clarksville Montgomery County Convention and Visitors BureauClarksville, TN – Tickets for the 2012 Miss Tennessee USA and Miss Tennessee Teen USA pageant are on sale now through the Clarksville-Montgomery County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

This year marks the twelfth year that Clarksville has been host to the Miss Tennessee USA pageant. The pageant will be held at the Austin Peay State University Music/Mass Communications building on October 7th-8th, 2011. [Read more]

Additional information made available about the 2011 Fireball Run

Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville has been selected as the sixth stop on the 2011 Chevrolet Fireball Run Adventurally. The teams will arrive in Clarksville on Thursday September 29th between 3:00pm-4:00pm. Once they arrive in Clarksville the teams will have several tasks to complete before they head for the finish line in Historic Downtown Clarksville. The Drivers will stay over night before leaving at 8:00am the following morning as Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan wavers the green flag kicking off the next leg of the rally.

This unique competition begins its southern excursion on September 23rd in Melbourne, FL, and ends on October 1st in Gulfport, MS, with plenty of action and sights along the route. The Chevrolet Fireball Run Adventurally Series is an action packed, one week, 2500 mile Adventurally production. The mission and destination based rally competition is live cast, filmed in 1080p HD for broadcast, theatrical release, and it will be released on home video.

On Thursday June 16th, Mayor McMillan hosted a news conference at City Hall to provide more information about our city’s selection as a stop on the Fireball Run. [Read more]

State of the Art Facility Being Created by Jostens, Bringing Additional Jobs to Clarksville

Clarksville-Montgomery County Economic Development CouncilClarksville, TN – Minneapolis-based memory book and scholastic products corporation, Jostens, announced today that it will be establishing a new state of the art memory book facility in Clarksville-Montgomery County, TN. The announcement means an enhanced facility will be based at a new location in Clarksville-Montgomery County with the current facilities located on Highway 48 transitioning into this new location after the completion of the 2011 school year.

David Smith, Chairman of the Clarksville-Montgomery County Economic Development Council stated, “This announcement is a great example of the value the Economic Development Council, its partners, the Aspire Foundation and our two mayors place on constantly understanding the needs of existing industry and creating an incentives model that favors those who are already here and have a demonstrated commitment to this community.” [Read more]

Clarksville Leaders make Nashville Post’s “In Charge” List

Nashville PostNashville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan is among a handful of local people who made the Nashville Post’s “In Charge” list of Middle Tennessee’s business and political “power brokers.”

This is the second year the prominent Music City business publication has recognized those in the Nashville area who have “the ability to use a position to create opportunity for others … in business, government or on broader civic issues,” according to the magazine’s March/April issue. The list was broken into various categories such as Banking & Finance, Education, and Government/Politics, in addition to Media, Music, Sports and Technology. [Read more]

Rails-To-Trails pilot project to launch in April

rails-with-trailsWork is underway on the Rails-To-Trails project that has long been a dream of city officials and community leaders in Clarksville.

The pilot phase of Rails-To-Trails will include walking, jogging and biking trails that span 3.6 miles from Riverfront Park to Pollard Road. Eventually, the trails will extend four to five miles, all the way to Peachers Mill Road at 101st Parkway.

Several years ago, the city purchased 30 acres of railroad footage owned by Montell Meadows. And in 2008, the city accepted a donation from the Pressler family of 94 acres that will enhance the trails project.

The trail will provide panoramic views of the Cumberland River and will offer respite in a rural setting in the center of the city. The pilot phase is due to be completed by year’’s end. The future goal is to connect to the Ashland City Bicentennial Greenway Trail. Ten acres have already been purchased near the county line for the expansion. [Read more]
