APSU welcomes Freshmen to Campus this week

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) officials will welcome more than 1,000 freshmen to campus residence halls this week, and most the new students will arrive from 8:00am to 3:00pm on Thursday, August 22nd, 2019.

Freshman Move-in Day also launches the University’s freshman orientation weekend, which we like to call APEX, short for Austin Peay Experience.

City of Clarksville’s free summer camps offer sports, arts, activities at 15 sites

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – Planning is underway to serve more than 1,200 Clarksville youngsters again this year with a free, fun and educational summer camp program.

Online registration for the Clarksville Parks and Recreation 2018 Summer Youth Program begins at 8:00am on Monday, April 2nd, 2018.

Block Party held in Lincoln Homes by LEAP and Clarksville Housing Authority

LEAP OrganizationClarksville, TN – On a crisp October Saturday LEAP organization in collaboration with the Clarksville Housing Authority hosted a Block Party in Lincoln Homes. Laughter could be heard as you approached the block party. It was coming from dozens and dozens of children enjoying free hot dogs, popcorn, and ice cream as well as playing games, jumping in the inflatables provided by A Jump’n Good Time, and live music from DJ Greedy.

LEAP Site Lead Dorlisha White spearheaded the event with the help of Martha Witherspoon of the Housing Authority.

DreamChasers program offers brand new locations this Fall

Increasing Colorful Fruit and Vegetable Consumption among Families

TNCEP Tennessee Nutrition and Consumer Education ProgramClarksville, TN – March 23rd, 2011 through March 24th, 2011 is Spring Adventure for the families in public housing (Lincoln Homes, Summit Heights and Caldwell Lane) during spring break on March 23rd and March 24th. The event dates are as follows: Lincoln Homes: Wednesday, March 23rd from 10:00am – 12:00pm; Summit Heights: Wednesday, March 23rd from 1:30pm-3:30pm; Edmondson Ferry Road neighborhood: Thursday, March 24th from 1:00pm-3:00pm.

This event comes during March’s National Nutrition Month. The American Dietetic Association (ADA) comes up with a nutrition theme every year to promote healthy eating. The 2011 theme for March’s National Nutrition Month is “Eat Right with Color.” The Tennessee Consumer Education Program (TNCEP) and the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) have put a spin on the theme to make it more kid-friendly, and have named the event “Eat the Rainbow.” [Read more]
