Clarksville Writers ConferenceClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Arts & Heritage Development Council, in partnership with Austin Peay State University and the Tennessee Arts Commission, is pleased to announce the Twelfth Annual Clarksville Writers Conference, being held June 2nd and 3rd, 2016, on the campus of Austin Peay State University.

We are very honored to have as this year’s keynote speaker Jim Squires, former Tennessean reporter, former Chicago Tribune editor and author of much-buzzed-about political Roman a clef West End, published under the pen name Crockett White.

Clarksville County Arts and Heritage Development Council to hold Exhibition, Reception for 2Rivers Plein Air Paint-Off

Clarksville Arts and Heritage Development CouncilClarksville, TN – This Friday and Saturday, October 16th and 17th, artists from around Middle Tennessee and southern Kentucky will arrive in Clarksville to paint the city in the 2Rivers Plein Air Paint-out.

Clarksvillians are invited to a reception and exhibition of work produced through the weekend at the L & N Train Station, on Saturday October 17th, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. They may also purchase fresh, original work featuring scenes of their favorite Clarksville landscapes, painted en plein air.

Tenth Annual “Frolic on Franklin: A Celebration of the Arts” set for Saturday, September 19th

Clarksville's Frolic on FranklinClarksville, TN – Downtown Clarksville’s 10th Annual “Frolic on Franklin: A Celebration of the Arts” will take place Saturday, September 19th from 8:30am to 3:30pm. This free event will showcase the works of more than 30 artists, staged entertainment and art demonstrations — all along the 100 block of historic Franklin Street.

A variety of original fine art, as well as handmade crafts, will be on display including paintings and photography, jewelry, clay garden items, wood work, purses and fabric accessories, pottery, candles, jewelry, woven and knitted items, and seasonal gifts. Items will be for sale with prices ranging from $2.00 to $500.00.

Call for Artwork Submissions for 2016 Clarksville Arts & Heritage Cultural Calendar

Clarksville Arts and Heritage Development CouncilClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Arts and Heritage Development Council (AHDC) is putting out a call to artists who are interested in having their work featured in the eighth annual Cultural Calendar. Each month will feature an artist’s work and highlight upcoming arts and heritage events.

Submitted work will be juried to determine which piece is featured each month, as well as which artwork appears on the cover. As in years past, calendars will be available through AHDC’s website, as well as in the Customs House Museum’s “Seasons” gift shop and other locations around town.

An award-winning Southern Author, she celebrates the richness and variety of Appalachian culture through her books, many of which have appeared on the New York Time Best-Sellers List.

Of her numerous works, the best known make up the Ballad series. In these stories she weaves together past and present while seeking to change the popular perception of Appalachia.

Clarksville Writers ConferenceClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Arts and Heritage Development Council will honor novelist Sharyn McCrumb with their first-ever Patricia Winn Award for Southern Fiction at the June 4th Clarksville Writers Conference banquet.

McCrum, award-winning Southern writer best known for her Appalachian “Ballad” novels, including a number of New York Times bestsellers, will also give the keynote address at Thursday evening’s banquet at Club Level of Austin Peay State University’s newly renovated Governors Stadium, featuring a gorgeous view of this historic campus.
