Clarksville, TN – The Customs House Museum and Cultural Center is located in historic downtown Clarksville, Tennessee. Come explore an entire city block featuring large gallery spaces filled with fine art, science and history.
In the month of October, the Museum will feature The Passion of Kitty Harvill, Denton Ridge: Mountains to Coasts, Main Street: A Vintage Holiday, Family Fun Day: Discovering Christmas Past and so much more.

The 104th meeting
Clarksville, TN – The next meeting of the Clarksville (TN) Civil War Roundtable will be on Wednesday, November 14th, 2012 at the Bone & Joint Center, 980 Professional Park Drive, right across the street from Gateway Hospital. This is just off Dunlop Lane and Holiday Drive and only a few minutes east of Governor’s Square mall. The meeting begins at 7:00pm and is always open to the public. Members please bring a friend or two – new recruits are always welcomed.
This is a special meeting night one week earlier than normal due to the Thanksgiving holiday the following week.

United States Colored Troops Living History Association Hosts Annual Conference in Clarksville October 19th-21st

Clarksville, TN – The United States Colored Troops Living History Association’s annual national meeting will be October 19th-21st in Clarksville, TN at Riverview Inn, 50 College Street.
The United States Colored Troops Living History Association is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote and accurately interpret the history of the United States Colored Troops of the American Civil War and those that supported their efforts to abolish slavery and preserve the Union and to educate the public and promote research of the history and legacy of those who served in the Civil War. George McGlothin Performs as Civil War Soldier at the Customs House Museum

Clarksville, TN – On Friday, October 5th, the Customs House Museum will take a look back into 1863 through the eyes of a Civil War soldier. The event will feature historian George McGlothin, who will be assuming the persona of Clay Faulkner.
It will take place in the Museum’s Turner Auditorium at 6:00pm. Admission is free and open to the public.

Ned and Jacqueline Crouch donate folk art collection to APSU

Clarksville, TN – The artist, a Civil War veteran and 19th century dentist, carved the peculiar little figurines out of wood. He placed the musicians with their instruments in the back row, and up front, connected to metal wires, stand the dancing couples. Other macabre figures, such as a thin man playing bones and a woman spanking a baby, populate the dioramic scene.
When a crank is turned, a series of pulleys cause the pieces to move and dance in an awkward, dreamlike manner.
