31st Annual Mayor’s Golf Classic

City of ClarksvilleThe 31st Annual Mayor’s Golf Classic is set to take place this September 18th-19th at Swan Lake Golf Course. This popular golf tournament is a favorite among local golfers and features one of the largest fields of amateur players in the area.

Mayors Golf ClassicThe Mayor’s Golf Classic is also the last tournament of the year that offers points for the Local Tournament of Champions.

The deadline to enter the tournament is noon on Thursday, September 16th. The tournament is limited to 124 players. The entry fee of $110.00 includes one practice round at Swan Lake Golf Course on either September 13th through 17th (Practice round must be scheduled at Swan Lake and does not include a golf cart), lunch on both days of the tournament, use of a golf cart, commemorative gifts and the opportunity to win prizes. Jammin' In the AlleyThe band is made up of four local musicians- Neil Brock, Joe Wall, Rick Goodwin, Brian Glass- all who have been playing in Clarksville since their teen years. After years of traveling around and playing in different bands such as, The Sizzling Happy Family, His Boy Elroy, The Beagles, and The Billygoats and Myth- just to name a few, have now come together and formed The Sell Outs, playing classic guitar rock in the Clarksville area. Playing music from the late 60’s to the 21st century and covering bands like Santana, Van Morrison, Pink Floyd, Sublime, Rolling Stones and much more- everyone is sure to have a good time! This month’s free concert features the Tina Brown. This New York native has quickly become a Clarksville favorite performing at various events around town, to include our recent July 3rd Celebration at McGregor Park. Tina Brown has also performed all over the mid-South to include blues festivals, on Beale Street, and has even opened for Earth, Wind, & Fire and Gladys Knight in Europe! [Read more]

Kiwanis’s BBQ Cook-off

Clarksville Downtown MarketThis Saturday the Downtown Market will be working with the Kiwanis Club of Clarksville’s BBQ Cook-Off. The market will run extended hours from 8:00am-4:00pm in the upper lot of the City Hall parking lot and on the street in front of Public Square.

There will be around 35 teams and over 40 judges. Judging will begin at noon with awards given at 4:00pm. There will be music Friday night featuring Les Ker and the Bayou Band. Saturday night’s entertainment will be The Beagles. There will also be a kid’s zone set up in the F&M Bank parking deck both nights.

There will be vendors set up with BBQ, ribs, chicken, brisket, hot dogs, and cookies for all to enjoy! [Read more]
