APSU announces winners of 2020 Zone 3 First Book Award in Poetry

Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) Zone 3 Press recently announced the co-winners of its 2020 First Book award in Poetry.
Judge Paige Lewis selected East Walnut Hills: A Gothic Epic by Emily Spencer and For Daughters Who Walk Out Like Sons by Komal Mathew. The books will be published in fall 2021.
New exhibit at APSU provides social commentary on southern landscape and lifestyle

Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Trahern Gallery, with support from the APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts and the APSU Department of Art and Design, is pleased to present “Southlandia”, a body of work by nationally recognized printmaker Andrew Blanchard.
The exhibit opens February 22nd at the gallery and runs through March 18th.

APSU Chamber Singers embark on a vocal four of four states

Clarksville, TN – Dr. Korre Foster, assistant professor of music, wants to educate aspiring singers on an Austin Peay State University music program regarded as “The Best Kept Secret in Tennessee.”
That’s why this March, Foster is taking the Chamber Singers, APSU’s premiere choral ensemble, on a tour of four states in five days.
Five AAU National Basketball Championships in Four Years Means Millions of Dollars For Clarksville – Montgomery County Community

Clarksville, TN – Over the next four years, Clarksville-Montgomery County will host five high economic impact AAU Basketball Championships bringing in a total of $8.9 million of revenue. The 2015 event will be held this upcoming July 10th-15th.
The community will welcome the 2015-2018 Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) 10U Boy’s Basketball National Championships as well as the 2016 AAU 6th Grade Girl’s National Championships. In total, over 15,000 visitors will pass through to be a part of, or watch, the games. The 2017-2018 boy’s tournaments were recently awarded to the team at Visit Clarksville after a rigorous bid process. [Read more]

Clarksville, TN – The next meeting of the Clarksville (TN) Civil War Roundtable will be on Wednesday, October 15th, 2014 at the Bone & Joint Center, 980 Professional Park Drive, right across the street from Gateway Medical Center. This is just off Dunlop Lane and Holiday Drive and only a few minutes east of Governor’s Square mall.
The meeting begins at 7:00pm and is always open to the public. Members please bring a friend or two – new recruits are always welcomed.

Shannon’s Doggy Daycare offers boarding and grooming at new Madison location

Beachaven Winery’s Jazz on the Lawn Memorial Day Weekend with the Sunburners

Clarksville, TN – Come out this weekend to Jazz on the Lawn at Beachaven Winery featuring the Sunburners on Saturday, May 26th 2012. The music starts at 6:30pm and goes until 9:30pm. It is normally a good idea to arrive early to get one of the good viewing spots on the lawn.
The Memorial Day Weekend concert will feature The Sunburners, an island party band out of Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.
