October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Support cancer patients and others needing blood
Clarksville, TN – During Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October, the American Red Cross encourages eligible donors to give blood to support cancer patients and others needing blood products.
According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is the second most common cancer among women in the U.S., with one in eight developing invasive breast cancer in her lifetime. Breast cancer patients may need blood products during chemotherapy, mastectomy surgery or treatment of complications.

Clarksville Students at the Academy for Academic Excellence Turn the Tables on the Staff
May 7, 2013
Clarksville, TN – We all know how teachers and staff are constantly helping our students every day.
The students at the Academy for Academic Excellence, however, are turning the tables on a staff member.
These elementary students have created six paintings, like those shown below, to sell.
The proceeds go to help a staff member who has been diagnosed with cancer and the students want to help the family pay for transportation costs to the doctor, radiation and chemo visits, and other expenses.
