APSU to offer executive education programs for working professionals this spring

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – This spring, Austin Peay State University will launch its first executive education program, providing working professionals with the training and credentials they need to enhance and elevate their careers.

As part of this historic new push, the University is transforming the 13,000-square-foot 317 College Street facility (formerly the Jenkins and Wynne Honda Building) into an executive education building.

Austin Peay State University earns record amount of external grants

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – The 2016-2017 academic year turned out to be a historic year for Austin Peay State University.

During that time period, APSU faculty and staff aggressively pursued outside funding to support research, student success initiatives and community outreach programs, resulting in a 76-percent increase in external grants over the previous year.

A month later, the creatures continue to hover across the lawns or hide in academic buildings, but in order to see them, a person needs a cell phone, the Pokemon Go app and the ability to walk while staring at a small screen.

Austin Peay State University student to conduct research at Cornell this summer

Austin Peay State University receives $100k grant for expanding “My Future” system

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University was awarded a $100,000 grant earlier this week to expand and enhance its innovative My Future system. The system, unveiled in 2012, uses predictive analytics to help students pick majors in fields where they will likely find academic success.

The grant was awarded through EDUCAUSE’s Next Generation Learning Challenges (NGLC) initiative. EDUCAUSE is a nonprofit association that supports the role of information technology in higher education. [Read more]

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – An Austin Peay State University biology professor will present the next session of the Provost Lecture Series this week at APSU.

Dr. Carol Baskauf, APSU professor of biology, will present at 3:00pm, Thursday, November 7th, in the Morgan University Center, Room 303. She will talk about her work with Braun’s rock-cress, a federally endangered plant found only in Tennessee and Kentucky. The plant has an unusual distribution, with a 250-mile gap separating its Tennessee and Kentucky populations.

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – An Austin Peay State University English professor will present the next session of the Provost Lecture Series this week at APSU.

Dr. Daniel Shea, APSU associate professor of English, will present at 3:00pm, Thursday, October 31st, in the Morgan University Center, Room 303. He will discuss his paper, “Time Travel by Bicycle: The Country, the City, and the Cyclist in Late-Victorian England,” which uses accounts of bicycling in Victorian novels to examine how people moved easily between antiquated rural communities and modern cities during that era’s agricultural depression.
