Michael McWhorter’s 45 years tops this year’s list
Clarksville, TN – For Michael McWhorter, who’s worked for the Clarksville Gas and Water Department for more than four decades, the first day on the job remains among the most memorable.
“I was 18, just out of high school, and this was my first full-time job,” McWhorter said. “On the way to work that Monday, my car ran out of gas at the Kraft Street/Riverside Drive intersection., so I ran all the way to Gas & Water, which was on Public Square in those days. I was about five minutes late, but it turned out all right.”

Michael McWhorter, Materials Management Supervisor at Clarksville Gas and Water, accepts a 45-year service pin from Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan. He was the longest serving of the 285 City employees who received pins from McMillan during her annual employee service awards breakfast on Thursday.

Residents can build, learn to use natural irrigation system
Clarksville, TN – Using a rain barrel to harvest rainwater for irrigation of household plants and backyard gardens can improve the environment and help homeowners save money.
The City of Clarksville and Montgomery County will sponsor a Rain Barrel Workshop to assist local residents in building a rain barrel and learning how to use it.

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Gas and Water Department has launched “Pay by Text” as a convenient payment option for customers to pay their utility bill anytime, anywhere on any cell phone.
Pay by Text is a cost-free service that delivers registered customers a brief monthly text alert with the bill amount and due date.
Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan names Jennifer Byard Clarksville Parks and Recreation Director

Clarksville, TN – Jennifer Byard, who has distinguished herself as a leader in positions with several city departments, has been named director of the Clarksville Department of Parks and Recreation, Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan announced Friday.
Byard had been Assistant Director since January 2015 and served as interim director of the department after Director Mark Tummons resigned in July to take a position in Texas.

Clarksville Gas and Water Department Transitions to New Online Utility Bill Payment Processing Service

Online and automated payment by phone service will be temporarily unavailable
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Gas and Water is pleased to announce the transition to a new online customer payment processing service. The new service will include the same secure online payment services as before, but will feature a new convenient One Time Payment option for monthly utility bill payment.
Customers will be able to select the new One Time Payment button on the Gas and Water home page, www.clarksvillegw.com , then choose Visa, MasterCard or Discover credit card payment or E-Check payment without establishing an “Access My Account” login and password.
