Austin Peay State University Community School for the ArtsClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Community School for the Arts is gearing up for another busy semester of classes this spring, and area adults and children interested in pursuing their creative interests are encouraged to register beginning December 3rd.

For more than two decades, the CSA has provided music, art, drama, creative writing and dance lessons for members of the Clarksville community. This spring, the CSA will offer classes from January 7th through May 3rd. [Read more]

7th Annual ‘Frolic on Franklin’ Features Artistic Variety

Frolic on FranklinClarksville, TN – Downtown Clarksville’s 7th Annual Frolic on Franklin: A Celebration of the Arts will take place Saturday, September 15th from 9:00am-4:00pm. The free event will showcase the works of 26 local and regional artists along the 100 block of historic Franklin Street.

A variety of original artwork and crafts will be on display including jewelry and beaded items, pottery, paintings, woodwork, ceramics, glass items, fabric items, photography, garden and seasonal items, and more. Items will be for sale with prices ranging from $2 – $2,000.

Planters Bank to Showcase ‘Second Bloom’ Exhibit from Jennifer Reverri

Planters BankClarksville, TN – The Planters Bank-Hilldale First Thursday” Art Exhibit will showcase the floral photography of Jennifer Reverri during May, with blooms from Italy, New Orleans and Nashville.

Originally from Pennsylvania, Reverri was whisked her away from teaching middle school math to a life of travel when she became a military spouse. A tour in Italy reignited a love of ceramics and paved a path toward photography.

Austin Peay State University student Gray presents “Triple Threats” art exhibit at Gallery 108

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – This week, Austin Peay State University graduating senior Naha Gray will present her Senior Thesis exhibition, “Triple Threats,” at APSU’s Gallery 108.

Located on the first floor of the Trahern Building, the gallery will be filled with ceramics, watercolor paintings and acrylic paintings by Gray. The artist has been in two other gallery viewings at APSU, and this will be her first featured show of her own. [Read more]

Clarksville, TN – Downtown Clarksville’s 6th annual celebration of the arts, “Frolic on Franklin” will take place Saturday, September 17th. Hosted by the Downtown Clarksville Association, the event will showcase the works of 30 local and regional artists along the 100 block of historic Franklin Street.

A variety of original artwork and crafts will be on display including jewelry, pottery, water colors, woodwork, ceramics, glass items, photography and more. Items will be for sale with prices ranging from $2.00 – $2,000. Several artists will also provide demonstrations of their work throughout the day including painting and decorating glass ornaments, making wooden items with lathes, and various types of painting.

APSU Artist Shipley Displays Work at Nashville Airport

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Every day, hundreds of people from across the country arrive at the Nashville International Airport, and, shortly after getting off the plane, among the first things they see in Tennessee are the innovative and highly-stylized ceramic sculptures by artist Ken Shipley.

That’s because Shipley, an Austin Peay State University associate professor of art, is among only a handful of artists from across the state to have his work exhibited at the airport as part of the “Flying Solo Series: Winter 2011.” The exhibit is part of Arts at the Airport, which is funded by the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority and the Tennessee Arts Commission.
