Riverfest kicks off this afternoon and continues Saturday

2012 Riverfest - 25thClarksville, TN – The 2012 Riverfest Festival kicks off this afternoon. The free festival held on the banks of the Cumberland River at McGregor Park celebrates Clarksville’s river heritage.

2011 Go Commando winner offers advice for Runners

Go Commando Half Marathon and 5kClarksville, TN – Nearly a year ago, Daniel Hazelton crossed the finishline at the Go Commando Half Marathon powered by CDE Lightband and became the first winner of this annual event. Now, Hazelton offers training tips and advice to all those who plan to Go Commando on October 20th, 2012.

A seasoned runner, Hazelton had already participated in countless other races prior to the Go Commando Half Marathon on October 15th, 2011. While training for the 2011 race, he was also preparing for the Army Ten-Miler in Washington, D.C. As part of the Fort Campbell Ten Mile Team, Hazelton and his team won first place in the Active Duty Mixed Division. [Read more]

Go Commando Half Marathon and 5kClarksville, TN – On Saturday, October 20th runners will take to the streets during the second annual Go Commando Half Marathon and 5k. A special segment of these athletes will be racing for a cause, to raise awareness of the struggles surrounding PTSD and combat stress.

The Go Commando Half Marathon and 5k powered by CDE Lightband will join the non-profit organization Not Alone in raising awareness of combat stress and PTSD and encourage runners to consider joining Team Not Alone as they prepare for the 2012 race.

Austin Peay State University Summer Commencement to graduate 350 students August 10th

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University will award degrees to approximately 350 students during its 83rd Summer Commencement on Friday, August 10th in the Dunn Center.

Commencement will begin at 2:00pm. Doors will open at 1:00pm for guests.

In addition, three students enrolled as cadets in the University’s Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) will be commissioned as U.S. Army officers at the conclusion of the ceremony. [Read more]

TVA’s Tennessee Valley Electric Lineman Rodeo was alot of Fun

Clarksville, TN – The Tennessee Valley Authority, along with the City of Clarksville, the Cumberland Electric Membership Corporation (CEMC) and CDE Lightband played host to the Tennessee Valley Electric Lineman Rodeo at McGregor Park in Clarksville, Tennessee from June 7th-9th.

This multi-day event allowed electrical workers from throughout the region compete against one another to see who’s the best of the best 45 feet in the air. When the lights go out, for an electric line worker, duty calls. He puts his life on the line to ensure we are able to enjoy all the conveniences that electricity provides to us.

APSU to graduate record 1,000-plus students May 4th

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University will award degrees to 1,075 students – the largest class in APSU history – during its 83rd Spring Commencement on Friday, May 4th in the Dunn Center.

More students are graduating from APSU because of the University’s increased efforts to offer students more opportunities to finish their degrees faster. One of those opportunities is APSU’s new Winter Term, which launched in December 2011. Some of the students will be able to graduate May 4th because they took a course during Winter Term. Restore Ministries is a new program that offers small groups, counseling and other services to help those in our community make lasting positive changes in their lives. No matter what needs attention and healing, Restore Ministries can provide the support and guidance a person needs to learn, grow and ultimately thrive. Restore Ministries accomplishes this two ways: counseling and small groups.
