Clarksville-Montgomery County Welcomes AAU Boys’ National Basketball Championships July 7th-12th

Visitor Spending Expected to Total $2.5 Million
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville-Montgomery County is poised to welcome nearly 3,000 guests next week for two divisions of the Amateur Athletic Union’s Boy’s 10-and-Under National Basketball Championships.
Since 1999, the city has hosted dozens of regional and national AAU basketball events. This year, 53 teams from 16 states including Utah, New York, Texas, New Jersey, Michigan, Maryland, Louisiana, Indiana and most states bordering Tennessee, will make their way to Clarksville for championship play.
Montgomery County Population Estimated at 195,734

Clarksville, TN – U.S. Census Bureau estimates released last week show Montgomery County’s population at 195,734 as of July 1st, 2016. The increase from July 1st, 2015 to July 1st, 2016 means the county gained 2,440 new residents, or almost seven persons per day.
Since 2010, Montgomery County’s growth rate of 13.6%, or 23,372 new residents, is among the top counties in the state. Population estimates for the city of Clarksville have not yet been released.
Clarksville Ranks 19th Among Top U.S. Cities for Fastest Job Growth

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville metropolitan statistical area (MSA) ranked 19th in the nation for fastest job growth. A report released today from 24/7 Wall Street, a Delaware-based financial news company, studied employment and job growth from October 2015 to October 2016 for 387 metro areas and announced the top 25 U.S. cities.
The Clarksville MSA added more than 4,700 jobs, an increase of 4.61%, with total jobs at 106,811 in October 2016.
City of Clarksville Population Estimates Climb Toward 150,000

Clarksville, TN – Estimates released yesterday from the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey show Clarksville’s population at 149,120. Just shy of the 150,000 mark, this growth reflects an 11.6% increase over the past five years.
In the same report, Montgomery County population is growing quickly toward a population of 200,000, with a 2015 estimate of 193,479, which is also up 11.6% from 2010. The number of households in the county increased to 70,494, up 7.7% over 2014.
Clarksville-Montgomery County Welcomes AAU Boys’ and Girls’ Back-to-Back National Championships July 8th-18th

Clarksville, TN – Local residents can expect to see an increase in out of town visitors for more of July as approximately 8,695 visitors from across the country arrive in Clarksville to compete in the AAU Boys’ 10U Basketball Division I and Division II National Championship from July 8th-13th, followed by the Girls 6th Grade National Championship July 13th-18th.
A total of 52 boys teams and 63 girls teams will be competing.

Five AAU National Basketball Championships in Four Years Means Millions of Dollars For Clarksville – Montgomery County Community

Clarksville, TN – Over the next four years, Clarksville-Montgomery County will host five high economic impact AAU Basketball Championships bringing in a total of $8.9 million of revenue. The 2015 event will be held this upcoming July 10th-15th.
The community will welcome the 2015-2018 Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) 10U Boy’s Basketball National Championships as well as the 2016 AAU 6th Grade Girl’s National Championships. In total, over 15,000 visitors will pass through to be a part of, or watch, the games.
