Make love not war with “Lysistrata” at the Roxy Regional Theatre, November 2nd – 10th

Chemers’ contemporary take on Aristophanes’ bawdy anti-war comedy “Lysistrata”, November 2nd – November 10th, 2018. “What if they stopped a war because nobody came?” From this premise springs forth the first make-love-not-war play ever written.

In keeping with the theme of Season 36 — “Theatre You Can’t Resist” — Clarksville’s oldest professional theatre follows a group of women as they put up a resistance against Greece’s political climate to bring about unprecedented change.

Clarksville’s oldest professional theatre enters Season 36 of live entertainment on the corner of Franklin and First in Historic Downtown Clarksville with a Tony Award-winning family-friendly musical, piled bouffant-high with laughter, romance and deliriously tuneful songs.

Legends Bank presents “Hairspray” at the Roxy Regional Theatre, beginning this Friday, September 7th, at 8:00pm. In keeping with the theatre’s traditional pay-what-you-can opening night, all tickets not pre-sold at the regular ticket price will go on sale at 7:30pm Friday evening for a $5.00 minimum donation.

Legends Bank presents Rodgers and Hammerstein’s masterpiece “Oklahoma!” at the Roxy Regional Theatre, beginning Friday, July 27th, at 8:00pm. Austin Peay State University gives Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew” a comic book makeover

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – In the late 1940s, shortly after World War II, American comic books took on the daring subject of love. Jack Kirby, co-creator of Captain America, helped popularize these soap opera-like tales with his comic “Young Romance.”

The brightly colored covers—which would later inspire Roy Lichtenstein’s pop art creations—featured couples embracing or kissing, often with someone crying in the background.
