Clarksville Riverfest Tour d’Art Winners

Clarksville, TN – Every year, Clarksville’s Riverfest Tour d’Art exhibits feature the talents from artists across the Clarksville-Montgomery County area.
There are three divisions; the Senior (Downtown Artists Co-op), the High School (Customs House Museum) and the Amateur and Professional Divisions (Smith-Trahern Mansion).
After hundreds of artists had their works of art on display at various locations in downtown Clarksville, then judged by artist Dane Carder, winners were awarded at the Tour d’Art Receptions, Friday, September 6th, 2013. [Read more]
APSU Spring Salon Series to explore music, art and language with Malcolm Glass April 2nd

Clarksville, TN – Malcolm Glass, the local award-winning poet and Austin Peay State University emeritus professor of English, can’t seem to keep his creative side in check. A few years ago, he took up photography and created dazzling images that were displayed around town and in Nashville.
Then, in the spring of 2011, he decided to give drawing a go. That’s when he enrolled in APSU art professor Billy Renkl’s Drawing IV class at the University.

Austin Peay Art Department’s new “Living Gallery Space” program to turn APSU Campus into giant Art Exhibition Space

APSU has 20 Faculty chosen as Summer Faculty Research Fellows

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University had twenty faculty members chosen as awardees in the 2012 Summer Faculty Research Program (SRFP), which encourages the development of research/creative activity projects at the University.
The SFRP awards up to $5,000 for selected proposals by tenured or tenure-track faculty to develop a research or creative activity project that should place them in a better position to seek external funding.

First Thursday ArtWalk in Historic Downtown Clarksville March 1st

Clarksville, TN – The Historic Downtown Clarksville Association (DCA), is proud to announce the First Thursday ArtWalk for March, 2012.
This months artwalk will be held on March 1st, 5:00pm until 8:00pm, and as always will be held in the shops and galleries on Public Square, Franklin Street, Strawberry Alley, Main Street and Second Street. Participating merchants include The Framemaker, Ingredients, Rogate’s Boutique, ARTifacts, Hodgepodge, and many more.
As always, this is a free event so bring your family and friends downtown to the Artwalk.
APSU Downtown Exhibit Features Innovative Collages by Billy Renkl

Clarksville, TN – Legal documents, such as old, notarized deeds of trust, aren’t usually considered poetic or offer much in the way of aesthetics. The crinkled, yellow pages provide straightforward information about who owns what and where.
But artist and Austin Peay State University drawing professor Billy Renkl views these old papers differently. He sees an entire world of deep, contradictory meanings arising when he uses the documents as a canvas for his pen and ink. [Read more]
