Humane Society of Clarksville-Montgomery County Open House Saturday

Clarksville, TN – The Humane Society of Clarksville-Montgomery County is proud to announce its first ever Holiday Open House on Saturday, December 10th from 1:00pm-5:00pm. The event will be held at the Humane Society office, which is located at 940 Tennessee Avenue, just behind Arby’s on Riverside Drive.
Guests will be able to visit with some of the foster animals currently available for adoption, shop for holiday gifts, purchase a variety of baked goods and enjoy refreshments and holiday music. Gift wrapping services will also be available for a donation.

Clarksville Downtown Market to Open May 21st

Clarksville, TN – When the 2011 Clarksville Downtown Market opens Saturday, May 21st, approximately 45 vendors will be on hand offering local fresh produce, baked goods, home décor, seasonal flowers and more. The Clarksville Downtown Market is open every Saturday from opening day, May 21st until October 22nd from 8:00am to 1:00pm on Public Square.
Last year, Clarksville’s Downtown Market at Public Square was voted #1 in the state of Tennessee and #6 in the nation, in the 2010 America’s Favorite Farmers Markets contest which was hosted by American Farmland Trust. The online contest was a nationwide challenge to see which of America’s farmers markets can rally the most support from their communities- and support we did receive! Kiwanis’s BBQ Cook-off
This Saturday the Downtown Market will be working with the Kiwanis Club of Clarksville’s BBQ Cook-Off. The market will run extended hours from 8:00am-4:00pm in the upper lot of the City Hall parking lot and on the street in front of Public Square.
There will be around 35 teams and over 40 judges. Judging will begin at noon with awards given at 4:00pm. There will be music Friday night featuring Les Ker and the Bayou Band. Saturday night’s entertainment will be The Beagles. There will also be a kid’s zone set up in the F&M Bank parking deck both nights.
There will be vendors set up with BBQ, ribs, chicken, brisket, hot dogs, and cookies for all to enjoy! [Read more]

Its that time of the year again, The Montgomery County Farmers Market is once again open for business Tuesday at the L&N Train Station (10th & Commerce St). The market runs from June through October and opens at 6:30am and runs until 2:00pm. To ensure the best selection possible, you should plan to arrive early in the day. The market brings some of the freshest local produce and baked goods direct from the farm to you.

The market this weekend will feature fresh produce including strawberries, asparagus, squash, carrots, cabbage, beets, tomatoes, peas, peppers, green beans, herbs, and much more.
You can also pick up plenty of potting plants and flowers, homemade soaps, delicious homemade baked goods, candles, honey, themed painted gourds, wood workings, stained glass works, stone crosses, cookbooks, and even a recipe or two.
The Downtown Market is open from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm every Saturday from May 15th – October 23rd.
