Dr. Mickey Hepner appointed new dean of APSU College of Business

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University has appointed Dr. Mickey A. Hepner as the new dean of APSU’s College of Business, effective January 2nd, 2018.
Hepner comes to Austin Peay from the University of Central Oklahoma, where he served as dean of the university’s College of Business from 2011-17, as well as a professor in the college.
Downtown Commons events for the week of December 12th, 2017

Montgomery County, TN – The Downtown Commons Holiday Ice Rink is currently open Monday through Friday at 5:00pm, Saturday at 11:00am, and Sunday at 2:00pm. Each night the last skate session starts at 8:00pm.
Reservations are not required but are recommended for groups larger than ten during evening sessions. Private Ice Sessions are also available by reservation.
2nd Annual Community Messiah Sing to be December 17th

Clarksville, TN – Area vocalists are invited to sing in a community choir presentation of the Christmas portion of Handel’s Messiah at Madison Street United Methodist Church on Sunday, December 17th, 2017 at 7:00pm.
The event is free and open to the public.

APSU to offer executive education programs for working professionals this spring

Clarksville, TN – This spring, Austin Peay State University will launch its first executive education program, providing working professionals with the training and credentials they need to enhance and elevate their careers.
As part of this historic new push, the University is transforming the 13,000-square-foot 317 College Street facility (formerly the Jenkins and Wynne Honda Building) into an executive education building.

APSU Professor Dr. Steven Ryan to deliver APSU Winter Commencement address on Dececember 15th

Clarksville Christmas Parade delights young and old alike

Clarksville, TN – It was a beautiful night Saturday for the 58th Annual Clarksville Christmas Parade in Downtown Clarksville. People lined the streets waiting for the start of the parade. Children were excited in anticipation of seeing the floats and Santa Claus.
Austin Peay head football coach Will Healy was the grand marshal. The theme was “Christmas Around the World”.

APSU counseling, acting students partner in crisis simulation training exercise

Clarksville, TN – In the immediate wake of a devastating tornado, lives have been lost and homes destroyed, but the damage done to a cherished family business has created more strife for two siblings than high-speed winds could ever hope to cause.
“One of the siblings was focused on being out half a million dollars in damages, while the other one was focused more on the sentimental aspect of having their family business destroyed,” Dr. Kim Coggins, Austin Peay State University assistant professor of psychological sciences and counseling, said.
