APSU students win Bbest Solo Hack, place second overall at Regional Hackathon

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) senior Susan Kersten recently won “Best Solo Hack” at the CatHacks hackathon at the University of Kentucky, and her teammates won second place overall at the competition for hack that helps teach people sign language.
The wins add to the hackathon success Austin Peay students have had this year.

APSU classics senior finishes second at national translation contest

Clarksville, TN – For a late Valentine’s Day present, Dr. Christopher Bailey desperately wanted to get his wife tickets to the Sarah Brightman concert in Atlanta. Nine years earlier, on their first date, the couple bonded over their mutual love for the classical-crossover superstar who originated the role of Christine Daaé in Andrew Lloyd Weber’s “The Phantom of the Opera.” Bailey, an Austin Peay State University (APSU) musical theater professor, might have even owned a cardboard Sarah Brightman CD display as a teenager.
APSU aviation science program approved for veterans training, meaning ‘little or no cost’ for veterans

Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) aviation science program recently received approval for veterans education benefits, meaning veterans can earn the degree at “little or no cost.”
The program – which has a concentration in helicopters (or rotor wing) – is Tennessee’s first rotorcraft flight school that offers a bachelor’s degree.

The professionally juried exhibition opened in The New Gallery on April 1st and runs through April 24th, 2019.

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Community Health Foundation has awarded nearly $15,000 to the Austin Peay State University Foundation through the Matthew Walker Grant for the 10th consecutive year. The funding will benefit the APSU School of Nursing.

City of Clarksville to celebrate Arbor Day on April 5th

Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville will celebrate Arbor Day by planting two poplar trees at 11:00am on Friday, April 5th, 2019 at Barksdale Elementary School, 1920 Madison Street.
The trees to be planted have been donated by the Clarksville Tree Board.
Two Austin Peay State University professors picked for prestigious Carnegie fellowship

Clarksville, TN – Two Austin Peay State University (APSU) professors have been chosen for the prestigious Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship Program.
They are among five from Tennessee and 51 from the United States and Canada who will travel to Africa this summer to help universities in Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania and Uganda.
