Clarksville Parks and Recreation to show “The Grinch” at Movies in the Park, July 27th

Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, July 27th, 2019, Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s outdoor movie series Movies in the Park will show “The Grinch” at Liberty Park.,
Pre-show activities, coordinated by the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department, will begin at 4:00pm and include a Grinch-themed photo booth, local artisan vendors, making snow using polymers with Austin Peay State University (APSU) scientists and a special performance by Acro Dance Express.

Clarksville, TN – For a moment, it sounded as if someone was trapped deep inside the metal barrel. This unnerving feeling grew more intense as gallery visitors walked toward the rusty drum.
It looked like a normal barrel, used to collect garbage or – for the more desperate – to build a fire on an icy winter night, but once visitors peered inside, they heard flat, unemotional voices offering up “thoughts and prayers.”
Circuit Court Judge Kathryn Olita to speak at APSU’s summer commencement

Clarksville, TN – On Friday, August 9th, 2019, the Austin Peay State University summer Commencement keynote address will be given by Circuit Court Judge Kathryn Olita, 19th Judicial District, at 2:00pm in the APSU Dunn Center.
Olita, a Clarksville-native, attended Northeast High School and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
APSU twirler Melvin to compete at National Collegiate Championships

Clarksville, TN – On July 23rd-27th, 2019, Izzy Melvin, Austin Peay State University featured twirler, will represent the state of Tennessee at the National Collegiate Championships at the University of Notre Dame.
Melvin earned the right by winning Miss College Majorette of Tennessee at the Tennessee State Twirling Championships in April.

Clarksville, TN – Jaclyn Lyons grew up in Chicago, in a neighborhood so rough that most of her childhood friends ended up in prison, addicted to drugs or the victims of violence. In 2009, Lyons joined the U.S. Army to escape that bleak environment, but she never forgot the young faces of her friends from those years before they lost hope.

APSU Foundation elects new officers at spring 2019 dinner

Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) Foundation elected three new officers to serve on its board during the spring dinner the foundation hosted for its members at the University’s Morgan University Center . Chairman Tommy Bates, Vice Chair Barry Kulback (’79) and Secretary Casey Jenkins were selected to lead the organization.

Billy Atkins Family and Legends Bank partner to create scholarship for APSU students

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) Foundation recently received a generous gift from Billy Atkins and Legends Bank to create the Billy Atkins Family Endowed Scholarship. Atkins will provide additional funding to allow the scholarship to be awarded during the 2019-20 academic year.
