Austin Peay State University Women’s and Gender Studies program presents “The Vagina Monologues” March 27th and 28th

Clarksville, TN – This month, the Austin Peay State University Women’s and Gender Studies Program, the Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance and V-Day are celebrating 11 years of producing Eve Ensler’s award-winning play, “The Vagina Monologues.”
The show will be performed at 7:00pm on March 27th and 28th in Clement Auditorium. Tickets are $5.00. [Read more]

Jason Marsalis Vibes Quartet offers rare treat
Clarksville, TN – The 51st Mid-South Jazz Festival features the Jason Marsalis Vibes Quartet Saturday, March 31st at 7:30pm on the campus of Austin Peay State University in the Music/Mass Communication Building Concert Hall.
This culminates the 2011-12 Clarksville Community Concert Association (CCCA) season and promises to be an exceptional evening of music for Clarksville audiences and jazz lovers.
Austin Peay State University’s Chi Omega Chapter Celebrates 40th Anniversary

Clarksville, TN – The Sigma Kappa chapter of Chi Omega Women’s Fraternity turns 40 this year. In May of 1972, the Sigma Tao Omega sorority was granted an official charter from Chi Omega, becoming the first national sorority on Austin Peay’s campus.
Since then, through the national organization, this Chi Omega chapter has raised nearly $50,000 for the Make-A-Wish foundation and has donated thousands of volunteer hours to local charities and organizations.
5 Austin Peay State University Students serve as 2012 Legislative Interns

Clarksville, TN – Five Austin Peay State University students are participating in the 2012 Tennessee Legislative Internship Program in Nashville.
Alison Bright, Tricia Collis, Tiffany Kaschel, Kristen Lawson and Randi Perry are interning for various legislators during the Spring 2012 semester. Interns are assigned to legislative leadership offices and committees, and perform various duties, such as bill analysis, constituent work, research and general office work. [Read more]
Rivers and Spires’ Miss River Queen and Miss River Teen pageant to be held this weekend

Clarksville, TN – The search is on for this year’s Miss River Queen and River Teen. The annual pageant will be held March 24th, 2012 in Clement Auditorium on the campus of Austin Peay State University. The pageant begins at 7:00pm, and doors open at 6:30pm.
Tickets are $10.00 per person and may be purchased at the door.
Austin Peay State University plans activities as part of Disability Awareness Month throughout April 2012

Clarksville, TN – Walking to class, listening to a lecture, reading a sentence accurately or typing email are daily actions most people can do without thinking twice.
But for those who have disabilities, such activities can be a challenge. Their world is different.
That’s what the Office of Disability Services at Austin Peay State University wants people to understand. April is Disability Awareness Month, and activities are designed so that the public can see how different life with a disability is. [Read more]
Clarksville Hosts Second Annual Sports Festival

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Department of Parks and Recreation held its second-annual Clarksville Sports Festival on Saturday, March 17th, at the Foy Fitness Center on the campus of Austin Peay State University. The day-long festival was a celebration of sports and athletics in Clarksville and Montgomery County and featured not only clinics, sports demonstrations and interactive areas, but also seminars and even an exposition area where over 20 of Clarksville and Montgomery County’s athletic and outdoor clubs, businesses and organizations provided information to the community.

Austin Peay State University Symphony to perform Classical Masterworks during free March 18th Concert

Clarksville, TN – One afternoon in the late 1880s, according to a popular legend, the Russian composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky met with the man he considered a “mediocre composer” – Johannes Brahms. The topic of their conversation quickly turned to music.
“I can only write something that is beautiful,” Tchaikovsky is rumored to have pompously said.
“I can only write something that is perfect,” Brahms replied. [Read more]
18th Annual Governors Bass Tournament set for May 12th

Clarksville, TN – The 18th Annual Austin Peay State University Governors Bass Tournament is just around the corner.
This year’s edition will be held Saturday, May 12th, at Kentucky Lake, with registration and boat launching from Paris Landing State Park near Paris, TN. Last season’s tourney was postponed one week from May 22nd, due to high waters and flooding that enveloped the area. Despite the delay, the tourney still drew 243 boats.
