Dr. Najmul Abedin, professor in the public management and criminal justice department, had several articles published recently. These include “The Conceptual and Functional Diversity of the Ombudsman Institution: A Classification” published in Administration & Society; “The Ombudsman Institution and Democracy in the Bangladesh Context” in the book “Democracy in Bangladesh”; and “The Ombudsman Institution, Political Authority and Corruption” in the African Journal of Public Administration and Management. Austin Peay State University Provost Lecture Series to focus on sculpture collection at Nashville Parthenon

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – An Austin Peay State University classics professor whose search for paperwork about the acquisition of a sculpture collection at the Parthenon in Nashville has taken him to London will share his story as part of APSU’s next Provost Lecture Series.

Dr. Tim Winters, professor of languages and literature, will present at 3:00pm, Thursday, April 12th in the Morgan University Center, Room 303. The event is free and open to the public. The title of his talk is “Casting About: The Origins of the Sculpture Collection at the Nashville Parthenon.” [Read more]

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – The other day, Austin Peay State University physics student Elijah Jensen took out his cell phone to show a picture of his car. The hood was up in the photo, exposing an engine in pieces.

“That’s my car’s engine on Saturday,” he said. “I had to take the whole thing apart to fix one little piece. I’m very into fixing my own car, but fixing a car is a lot different than building a car.”

U.S. Rep. Marsha Blackburn notes concerns about funding for Higher Education during visit at Austin Peay Staet University

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – An expanded Medicaid and other rising health care costs will impact Tennessee financially, but how those escalating expenses will shortchange state allocations for higher education concerns U.S. Representative Marsha Blackburn.

“What we learned from TennCare is that every dollar went to health care, and higher education lost out,” Blackburn said during a visit April 2nd at Austin Peay State University. “We are incredibly concerned about what health care on a federal level is going to do to states and colleges and universities.”
