Local Fashion Designer at Clarksville’s Customs House Museum

Clarksville, TN – The Customs House Museum is featuring a view into the life of local fashion designer Neil Crockarell (December 1st, 1939 – March 24th, 2013).
Located in the Kimbrough Gallery through February twenty-third, The Sewing Room recreates the studio Neil last worked in.
New exhibit at APSU showcases antiquated photography process

Clarksville, TN – The photographs in Frances Scully Osterman’s new exhibit, “Nature’s Second Course,” straddle the line between the macabre and the sensual.
The images show people sleeping, but they were created using the antiquated wet-collodion photography process, giving the black and white photos a ghostly quality.
Austin Peay State University to host annual GuitarFest February 17th-19th

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University and the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts will present the annual APSU GuitarFest this February, featuring guest artist concerts, lectures and master classes.
The concerts takes place at 7.30pm, Monday though Wednesday, February 17th-19th, in the APSU Music/Mass Communication Building’s Mabry Concert Hall and are free and open to the public.

Clarksville, TN – An Austin Peay State University animal science professor will present the next session of the Provost Lecture Series this week at APSU.
Dr. Rodney Mills, assistant professor of animal science, will present at 3:00pm, Thursday, January 30th, in the Morgan University Center, Room 303. The title of his lecture is “Development of a Sustainable Beef Production System: A Case Study of the APSU Farm and Environmental Education Center.”

APSU classroom to be named after late professor Ed Irwin

Clarksville, TN – The plaque hanging in the lobby of the Austin Peay State University Browning Administration Building is easily overlooked. The brass plates blend in with the wall’s wood paneling, and from certain angles, the light washes out the names.
You have to lean close to read it, and only then do you realize that this tablet lists the recipients of the University’s top faculty honor – the Distinguished Professor Award.

Clarksville’s Gateway Chamber Orchestra to host “Wind Serenades” concert at APSU February 9th-10th

Clarksville, TN – There’s a famous scene in the 1984 Oscar-winning film “Amadeus” where the Italian composer Antonio Salieri looks over sheet music for Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Gran Partita” serenade.
Salieri’s face contorts into a mixture of agony and ecstasy as he images the sounds of that serenade’s “Adagio.”
