20th annual APSU Governors Bass Tournament to be held Saturday, May 10th

Clarksville, TN – The 20th annual Austin Peay State University Governors Bass Tournament is just a week away.
This year’s edition, which will be held Saturday, May 10th, at Kentucky Lake, with registration and boat launching from Paris Landing, Tennessee, State Park, promises to be more accessible for entrants and families alike.
Last May entrants were forced to use the back entrance because of flooding. Despite that obstacle, the tourney drew 282 boats — 14 more than in 2012.
Doyle & Debbie, Lee Greenwood Bringing Shows To APSU Red Barn Memorial Day Weekend

Clarksville, TN – Get ready Clarksville, the Doyle & Debbie Show will be taking the stage at the APSU Red Barn, 12 Govs Lane, on May 22nd at 7:30pm.
Known for their hilarious parodies and quick wit humor, the Nashville-based Doyle & Debbie Show has gained a large cult following over the years. Clarksville is excited to be hosting the masterminds behind the show, Bruce Arntson and Clarksville’s own, Jenny Littleton.
Clarksville’s Customs House Museum May 2014 Exhibits and Activities

Clarksville, TN – The Customs House Museum and Cultural Center is located in historic downtown Clarksville, Tennessee. Come explore an entire city block featuring large gallery spaces filled with fine art, science and history.
In the month of April, the Museum will feature Sessions with The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, There’s No Place Like Oz, Anne Bagby: Layered Expressions, Figuratively Speaking: National Juried Exhibition, Illustrated Poetry: The Art of Jim Diehr, A Puppet Production, Let’s Find: Shoes, and The Symbolism of Oz.
Austin Peay State University receives $100k grant for expanding “My Future” system

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University was awarded a $100,000 grant earlier this week to expand and enhance its innovative My Future system. The system, unveiled in 2012, uses predictive analytics to help students pick majors in fields where they will likely find academic success.
The grant was awarded through EDUCAUSE’s Next Generation Learning Challenges (NGLC) initiative. EDUCAUSE is a nonprofit association that supports the role of information technology in higher education. [Read more]
Wrapping up Clarksville’s 2014 Rivers and Spires Festival

Clarksville, TN – The last day of the 2014 Rivers and Spires Festival continued to be the best in memory. The weather was absolutely flawless, neither too hot nor to cold. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky throughout the entire day.
I rushed down to the Festival at 9:00am to catch the annual WJZM 1400 AM Clarksville in Review broadcast from the Festival. This usually is held at the Bill Roberts thunder road automotive tent on Franklin Street just down from the Roxy Regional Theatre. The program was already well underway when I arrived.
Friends of Dunbar Cave’s Spring Fling event to be held May 10th, 2014

Clarksville, TN – The Friends of Dunbar Cave have announced the schedule for this year’s Spring Fling event to be held (rain or shine) on May 10th, 2014. All activities begin at the Visitor’s Center and are free of charge. Snacks will be provided for a modest donation. Children must supervised by an adult.
Come out and enjoy a day of free, family fun.
Annual Card Party returns to APSU May 21st

Clarksville, TN – The semester is coming to a close at Austin Peay State University, which means it’s time for the annual Card Party on campus.
This year’s event, featuring games of Rook, Bridge and other card games, will be from 10:00am to 1:00pm on Wednesday, May 21st, at the Morgan University Center Ballroom.

Tennessee State Representative Joe Pitts to speak at Austin Peay State University Spring Commencement

Clarksville, TN – Tennessee state Representative Joe Pitts often refers to himself as “a proud 1980 graduate of Austin Peay State University,” and on May 9th, he’ll return to his alma mater to deliver the keynote address at the University’s 85th Spring Commencement.
He will speak at both commencement events, at 9:00am and 2:00pm, in the APSU Dunn Center.
